I think my pressure control solenoid is going out. After driving it for a while it will shift really hard in all gears but then I turn the car off and restart it and its fine. I had it replaced back in 06 when I bought the car and the dealership did it under warranty. Now I know these things are crap so it could of went out again my question is can I do this myself and how long will it take? I know the PCS isnt that much just got to drop half the cradle and all. But I really aint got the cash to take it somewhere. Anyone know?

I attempted this last year without a lift, just using jack stands. I ended up taking it somewhere, its a bytch. It ended up costing me like 350.00 in parts and labor. And yes that does sound like the PCS. Your gonna want to get a borg warner solenoid when you get it Triple Edge Performance - Home Page has them for a good deal.

I managed to do it in my garage over a weekend. Its an involved process.

A short runthrough caused me to jack up the driverside, pull out the strut/wheelhub/halfshaft assembly.

Form there i had to unbolt the dogbones, unbolt the swabar and the steering rack from the drivers side. i then supported the engine and unbloted the cradle and the trans mount as well.

I slowly went and unbloted the sidecover and gently worked it off of the trans by pulling the subframe down and lowering the engine/trans untill i could pry it out of ther.

from there its fairly simple and requires only pulling a clip and a plug.

    reassemble in reverse order.

I would definitely like to attempt this myself and save the cash over a shop. Where can I get detailed instructions on how to do this correctly? A Haynes manual maybe?

There is no writeup. This way is the only way i know of. Most shops say that you should drop the engine and trans out the bottom of the car on a lift and do it that way.

When the dealer did it they just dropped the driver side subframe and did it from there. So really what I am looking for is what I got to do to get the drivers side subframe to safely drop. I am not gonna drop the whole tranny when I aint got to lol

yea. I took some pictures in the attempt to do a writeup, but its really a case of if you can't figure it out on your own, take it to a shop.

Remember that you will be unbolting the transmission support and any false move can result in some serious damage.
