I took my car too a shop because my transmission was shifting really hard and making a loud screeching noise every time i pressed on the gas the trannmission guy pulled a code sayin 1811 i needed another transmission or mines rebuilt 1600 bucks. I need some expertise on if the guy is tring to rip me off if i even need to have to have my transmission replaced and if it is the case is 1600 a pretty good deal to have it fixed?

Dave owns/operates triple edge performance, he is well known throughout the 3800 community.

Is your car shifting hard all the time or does it take it a little while to start doing it? Mine had the 1811 code and all I needed was a pressure solenoid and now it shifts smooth as butter. Did they do a pressure test?

I would take it to another shop which you should generally do always. Some shops jump at the idea of throwing a new tranny in it for the $$$. Like I said mine pulled that code and was the pressure solenoid.
