    MotorSports Performance “Desert Fox” Transmission Cooler Kit: 3800 Performance

    Anyone have this cooler? Is it overkill? I want the best tranny cooler setup I can get, without it staying too cold. My temps stay constantly around 195*ish-over the 200*mark, with just normal driving in this Jersey heat. If i have my foot down the trans will heat up real quick, when i check the fluid, its bubbling on the stick.

    im looking at either that one, or the B&M supercooler with the fan on it. id like to have a fan on mine, especially with the t-stat in it so its not running 100% of the time

    I'm sure I could put one together for you guys and start offering them on the site. I've been meaning to do that anyway. It would come standard with a fan and would also perform better than the desert fox in the cooling aspect.

    And it would be cheaper.

    It would more than likley also come with braided line and a secure way to attach it to the transmission line other than a hose clamp.

    If you plan to make a cooler make sure it is a good size! The ones I use and sell are 26K gvw rating and even a few guys need something larger than that because of mounting location, especially turbo guys that use a large front mount intercooler. Most people dont want to spend and arm and a leg either and if you go AN lines and fittings you can plan another $100 or more to the bill, then you still have the trans side fittings to work around and keep in mind that select years have a checkball in the feed cooler fitting that you CANNOT omit without internal changes. I looked into making kits for these cars a while back but there isnt much demand for them and not many people want to pay $200-$300 for a nice setup, and adding a fan and nice plug-n-play wiring bumps it up even more.

    Well my camera was dead, so i couldn't take any photos, sry. The install was a pita, holes didn't line up like they were supposed to on the cooler mounts, so i had to mod it a little. The hoses are well designed tho. I went on a 2 hour drive tonight to test out the tranny, my temps never got above 160", keep in mind it was a little cool tonight. Usually on a night like this i would see 175*. So far no leaks at all . I would recommend this cooler to anyone, just be prepared to shed some blood and tears on the install.

    Oh yeah and i smoked a mustang gt at a stop light on my test drive

    Just curious, did this cooler bypass the radiator cooler?

    The return line on the factory rad/trans cooler was spliced using a/n fittings and barbs

    so fliud goes from trans--> rad--> desert-fox -->tranny
