David,
I've never left the engine in the car like that before. Is it a pain in the ass to line the cradle up with the engine and trans mounts, as well as it's own 4 mounting holes?

Man, I'd love to watch Dave work his magic so that I could build my confidence in doing tranny/motor swaps. Too bad you're so far away man!
I regret not watching Dave pull my engine and tranny when he did my install a few months ago. However, it was cold that day and I was tired from the trip so the hotel was calling.
I usually help Dave with pulling the engines out for swaps and sometimes if he's not in to much of a hurry I get to tear down the motor that we just pulled out to see why it did what it did (when the motor is bad and just replaced with a different motor not one he is rebuilding). I can say there was one time he was alot faster pulling a tranny, it was my fault that he had to. It was a Friday night at about 1 or 130am and we had just went out to watch a race played around on the way back into town and we got a light on Coliseum and he wanted me to race the guy that just pulled up to me I didn't want to cuz cops are always driving up and down that road (I didn't want a ticket!!!) He kept telling me when the light turns your gonna race him I said fine we took off and I manually shifted and it went into that gear then right into the next without me shifting into the next gear and went boom!!! I pulled into a parking lot and he got out and told me that I blew the tranny he wasn't very happy that it went!!! So off course I was saying to myself I didn't want to race him in the first place but I kept my mouth shut. He told me that it was just going to sit until he felt like fixing it. We called a friend (has a towing business) and he got there at about 2am and I got the other car and went home he took the car to our shop it took about 30mins to get to the shop from where we where and he was home at 4am. He told me in the morning that he pulled the tranny I was shocked that he did he started on it at about 3 and he was done in about 30-45 min. and tore some of it down I was in total shock!!!! I went to work at 830 and I went over to the shop at 12 and was able to drive the car back to work!!!! I broke the forward drum shaft, I'm just glad that he had the parts to fix it and didn't have to order anything.
No problem at all to line things up. The trans side is easy to get the mount lined up and sometimes the engine mount studs dont work out so well but a little prying around and it will drop right in. Also with the support you can raise the engine up higher and not worry about any of the mounts until you lower the engine back down into position.David,

I don't know how you were able to do that. My girlfriend would have screamed until I could no longer hear, beaten me to a bloody mess in the parking lot, then driven over me with whatever remaining gears she had. When things don't go her way I leave the state for my own self preservation. As I cross the state border to safety, I feel bad for the millions of unsuspecting New Jersians who don't know what sort of storm is bearing down on them.I pulled into a parking lot and he got out and told me that I blew the tranny he wasn't very happy that it went!!! Haha, I was joking. I may have exaggerated ever so slightly. I was just getting at the fact that the situation was handled calmly. Whereas, I would have had to run from the car and into the distance.
LOL thats nutz man! I told her to race this idiot and she didnt want to but did anyways and then when it shifted SNAP!!! I dont know how much anyone on here knows about oldsmobile engines but 7500 rpm is NOT good on them!!!! Im just glad the engine took it! Sure I was upset but in all honesty it was going to break sooner or later and at least it broke in town and not an hour away at the track! It also gave me a chance to put a different stall converter in the car and spruce the trans up a little more as depending on the converter I have to do limiting work to the trans to prevent things from breaking
