This is the 3rd grand prix ive had all 2 door coupes a silver 99 a black 01 gtp and my red 02 i have now. The bad part the 1st one I had in high school blew trans in that with 100k miles on it beat on it never had ne problems after that. The gtp never had ne problems with it had 145k on it when i sold it put around 65-70k on that. My current red gt bought with 52k blew trans up at 68 now car has 118 and blew differential. I fixed that but it still slips in 1st. Im beginning to see a pattern or maybe im crazy! I say these garbage trans last est 60k miles. Oh yea this one I have now is bone stock serviced often fluid is synthetic and filter changed every 30k in the tranny. Any one else blew up repeated transmissions around the same milage? Neither of my rebuilt transmissions were used complete rebuilds by Smittys Trans Shop in Grand Forks ND. Very good guys. Im about to go round 3 with the transmissions

I have 120k on my original transmission, and so far the only thing I have wrong with it is a sticky TCC solenoid and a dipstick tube that is cracked at the base (my own fault). Our transmissions are not the easiest or most straight-forward to rebuild, plus a lot of places that rebuild them only replace the wear parts, and not necessarily the sensors/solenoids that control them. Personally, I would buy a transmission from Trannyman (tripleedgeperformance.com). That's who I'll be getting my new one from when the time comes to replace it.

Well, I sure hope you can get it home in one piece. It seems like these transmissions just don't like you... Good luck getting her back home. Let us know what you decide to do trans-wise.

I have 219k on my stock trans and it still shifts hard and fast. I drive it 100 miles a day and no problems. Not sure what you are doing....

ya, I've JUST broke 130,000kms on my grand prix and it's got the original tranny still. Not a problem with it yet other than the sunroof motor haha. I've only put about 10,000 on it since I bought it though.

my normal drive at home is about 70 miles round trip. i dont see what im doing wrong, like i said before i dont gear drop it and dont do burnouts the cars not even capable of that its a bone stock gt. what gets me it the gtp i had with a 3.2 pulley, headers back exhaust and 1:9 rockers was way way faster and never had any problems with that one. i also run synthetic and change trans filter at 30k miles. i plan on cutting the filter duration in half and change at 15k but the fluid always looked pretty decent. what brand of clutch packs are everyone using for rebuilds? ive lost 1st in my 1st blown trans and a 1st gear piston in the trans thats currently in the car. now it just seems like its slipping in 1st after i replaced the diff. changed the filter and fluid.
