New here, but hopefully I'll be around for a while.

Lately when going into reverse there is a clunk that I assumed to be coming from CV shafts. Those were replaced with new units roughly 2 years ago with somewhere around 40k mi. on them now. I can jack up the car and turns wheels forward-reverse by hand and there is that bit of play that I would assume to be normal, but not sure if it should be more positive than that. Also noticed that drivers side shaft will lift a bit when going into reverse.

This leads me to my next question which could be answered by looking at a breakdown, but are there bushings that the shafts are supported by, or is everything supported by the differential? I cannot remember off the top of my head what the splines looked like when the shafts were changed, but it may be worth pulling the drivers side just to check.

There is no noise going from reverse or park to drive, only forward or park to reverse.
