I noticed recently that my 2000 GT is leaking some tranny fluid from the very front of the car. It looks like the area where the lines go below the radiator. They look pretty bad but I cannot see the exact leak. Is this a common problem in these cars? I checked into buying the lines but can't find them anywhere but at a dealer for their fantastic price. Does anyone know if these lines could be the issue and if so where I can get a better deal on lines?

It is pretty common to see the cooler lines leak. They are part rubber and part metal and where the rubber gets crimped onto the metal line is where the leaks typically are. I have seen these leak and had to replace them with as low as 30K miles on them while most last a long time leak free. The trans cooler lines come out of the transmission on the drivers side then turn and go the length of the radiator and then go into the passanger side of the radiator.

Do you know of anywhere that I can get the lines for cheaper than the dealer? I called not too long ago and they said about $100 a piece. Also, are they pretty easy to change?

I only buy them from the dealer, there are no aftermarket sources that I have found though I honestly havent looked into it too much. I cant believe they are $100, if you look them up for a few years newer they are only about $30 each!

I thought it was pretty high. I'm going to double check into it but I pretty sure that's what the guy said.

Mine cost me about $30-40 shipped for both from my parts guy at a dealer. I don't remember the exact cost but I know it was around there.

Same problem on a 2001 Sunfire; leaking line at radiator. Well sold the car, so issue solved .

I hope it's not a problem with newer Grand Prixs.

Lower trans cooler lines ended up being busted. Cost about $50 for the part.
