What up guys. Well I am in need of some help if anyone can. I went to church this morning and the car sat for hour or so. After church started it up and put into drive, gave it some gas and it lighty jerked into gear. Well later that day I was driving around and the car started shifting hard through all the gears. Is this a good indication that the tranny is about to go or what? I know nothing about transmissions. If it is going out should it be throwing codes or just go out?

You should take it to a trans shop and have it diagnosed. I have a bit of info on my Info page on my website, link is in my sig below. What year/make/model is your car? How many miles? Have you checked fluid level with car running-warmed up- trans in park range? How many miles?

The same similair thing happened with my car just last week. I just started shifting very hard all of a sudden. It then went away for a day then came back even worse. I would be going not even 20 mph and it would drop into 3rd gear very hard. I took it to a local transmission shop and they said my toque converter was trashed along with some other components, they said i would need an entire overhual new solenoids, seals, everthing they quoted me $1850

    my car is:
    2004 Grand Prix GT

It has 86300 miles on it. I checked the fluid in it yesterday to see if there were any metal shavings or anything. I put the fluid on my finger and some black stuff came off the tip of the dip stick. Sorry for not posting this information sooner.
