I can't believe I have to post this. I was working on my trans this weekend, I had taken the thermo element out because I power washed the case, and it was sitting on the floor beside me. A friend comes walking up and steps on it. I know these things are kind of sensitive, I assume I just need a new one? The height gauge is just for the pins, right, not the element itself? Heck, is there a possibility of just bending this one back?

I have bent them into shape before if they were off a bit, but stepping on it may be a larger problem to overcome! The height gauge to bend the element is to assure it functions properly. It would be best to replace the one you have whether new or used. I have a few extras if you need one but shipping my cost more than it is worth so you could probably call a local dealer and see what a new one costs but nobody will likely have one in stock so it will need to be ordered.

Ok, if I can just replace the element and not need the gauge, it's not so bad. Thanks for the info, Dave.
