    Hi All,

I recently got my hands on a turbo GTP with a bad trans. My regal which is down for a cam build till spring has a "good" trans basically out of the car. The regal trans does not have the black box on top of the shifter area. The GTP does.
My understanding is that i can just take the box off the GTP trans and bolt it onto the regal trans and everything will work. can anyone confirm this? I am planning to really get moving on the trans swap this weekend.

From my understanding, it will not work without some major work.

The pressure control system went from 6(?) solenoids from 97-03, to just 1(?) for the 2004 year. I also believe the bulk connectors and cooler lines are different.

That's what i learned when doing my swap in my 2000.

its easier to put an older trans in a newer car but the 04 regal should be the same as an 03 gp, drive by cable TB, and the pressure manifold switch as well. so you can make it work since youll only be editing out some stuff and you can always go to an 03 gtp bin which uses the IMS trans with the 1 switch delted Pressure manifold switch assembly

I decided it wasnt worth the hassle to put an iffy trans in the GTP if it wasnt going to be cheap and easy. I bought an overhaul kit with frictions pistons and steels. Im also going to replace all of the bands.
