Hello all, first time poster. I had this back last year and just got a new job where I'm making a lot more, so I'll finally have money to try and get this fixed.
Last November (2016) was driving my GP to the store, was taking it through a turn when all of a sudden it wouldn't work anymore, was giving it gas, all it was doing was just revving (like it was in Neutral.) Had to put it into 2 where it felt like it was slipping a lot, so I babied it on the drive home, about 4 miles at 30ish mph.
In summer of 2015 my father and I replaced the fluid and the filter right when it was at about 101k, this happened at 113k. A few days after this incident we checked the fluid and there was barely any on the dipstick, added some and restarted the car...nothing, still only works 1, 2, and R.
My master 'mechanic' father whom is 2000 miles away from me thinks it's something simple like a solenoid, I've gotten someone saying it's the shift band; I have no idea to be honest.
Has anyone experienced this or would be able to provide some insight before I start saving $2000 for this rebuild?
