It has been years.........and cant remember what is needed.

    I have a 30k trans from a 99 Grand Prix Gt.

I want to make it a 2.93 HD trans for my 02 regal Gs.

I have the 500hp input shaft and gxp chains to bandaid it for a bit.

Do I just need to swap my regal diff, output and cover to it? Or were the sprockets needed too?

Yup.. all the stuff is the same except for the sprockets that the chains ride. A 3.29 should have 35/35 gears with the 3.29 diff. A 2.93 uses 37/33 gears with 3.29 diff.

If you do the math of dividing 37 by 33 you'll get the 1.121 now multiply that by 3.29 and the math says 2.93. If you divide 35 by 35 you get 1.000 multiply by 3.29 and you get 3.29.

I'm not sure if I am not understanding this right but are you saying I do need to swap the sprockets too?? From my HD to the Gp Gt Trans? I know this subject is old and repetitive!

Yup just swap in the sprockets.

Or you can install the 04+ gt 3.05 nonHD diff.....
With a 2.93 chain set and the 3.05 diff you get a 2.84 final drive ratio.
