    Hello Fellow GPers

I have a 2003 GT, 3.8 no supercharge, 199k, original owner and its in decent shape other than rusted rockers.

Current issue is the trans is slipping, not all the time, but getting more frequent,

I've had it scanned and its throwing P1811 code, I know the trans will need servicing soon.

I'm deciding between having someone rebuild mine or swap it out for a GM certified rebuild trans.

Has anyone here done either of these option repairs and can you share your experience please, more info you can pass along the better.

I've been going to shops for estimates, and they are only offering rebuild or replace, nothing else.
I'm getting pretty wide quotes, anywhere from $2000 to $4000.

I'd appreciate any shop/mechanic recommendations that are experienced with GP's are honest and fair.

    thanks for your time
    C.

Lots of options out there. If you are looking to tackle this project yourself there is a lot of great info floating around the forums.
We offer a full line of rebuild parts and tech support if this is something you are considering, feel free to send us an email.

Agreed with Hurtz. Like l67ss is saying, is this too far gone for a TransGo?

Might help keep it together until total rebuild. Idk, maybe you put a shift kit in already.

Installing a Transgo Shift Kit will help address code P1811 as long as the transmission is in decent condition. With 199K miles there is going to be wear and concern inside but the shift kit is a cheap option to try out. If there is slippage on take-offs from a stop then the shift kit won't help with that and is internal.

Yes it slips off the start, but not all the time,
I have seen a video on youtube about installing the Transgo shift kit, but I don't want to waste money on that if it will not solve the problem.

I was told from a shop that it will just continue till it stops altogether, I may wait till then.

I'm still deciding weather have mine rebuilt from a shop (yet to be chosen) or to install a factory rebuilt unit from GM,

I am not equipped or skilled to do any kind of work myself,

am looking for Calgary shops for recommendations, please

    thanks all for your time
