    getrag 284.

    You'll be better off in the long run buying a donor car that is fully functional.

    Tbh its not worth it to bolt a manual up to a 3.1 imo.

    2001 GTP Special Edition - 3.29's built tranny, Coilovers with agx struts, 04+ seats, 18" Eagle 077's, Ported heads, ported blower, pacesetters, 3.4"
    2004 BMW 325CI with the sport package and the correct amount of pedals.

    Find a different car if you want a manual.

    After you research all the parts needed and all the man hours on custom making alot of this install you'll be in soooooo deep that you could bought a rwd manual car already.

    I also was curious. I did some searching and there are lot's of design issues. There are PCM programming, clutch mechanics, and others. I could have misunderstood, but there has not been any FWD Grand Prix that were Manual. If that is true then you are in for some major fabrications. When I was a teenager my friend and I switch out his automatic for a 4 speed in his 67 mustang. But think about it, the car was designed for either option. That meant there were brackets, consoles, levers, holes in the firewall, and such. That not even thinking about computers these days. If I was contemplating this project my first question is has there ever been a FWD Grand Prix with a Manual transmission? If the answer is no, then there can be no donor car.

    Now, if I had the shop space, I wonder if you could put a Grand Prix body on a rear wheel drive frame. Smoke off the back wheels of a Grand Prix .... Oh well that is another thread. :-)

    I found this company who make transverse Manule Transmisions.
    http://www.getrag.com/en/218.1?crite...sse=0&x=21&y=9
    Their largest query was 400nm and above. If I converted right that around 295 ft lb. My stock 06 GT is about 280 ft lb @ 5,500 rpm

    This was cool. It broke down what the letters meant. List of GM transmissions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    <Snipt>
    Today, GM uses a simple naming scheme for their transmissions, with the "Hydra-Matic" name used on most automatics across all divisions.

    3/4/5/6 L/T ## -E
    Number of forward gears L=Longitudinal
    T=Transverse
    GVWR rating "E" for Electronic
    "HD" for Heavy Duty
    First-generation transverse (Front Wheel drive)
    • 1995–2010 4T40-E/4T45-E — 4-speed light-duty (used in smaller front wheel drive GM vehicles)
    • 1991–2010 4T60-E/4T65-E/4T65E-HD — 4-speed medium-duty (used in larger front wheel drive GM vehicles)
    • 1993–2010 4T80-E — 4-speed heavy-duty (used in large front wheel drive GM vehicles, only with Cadillac NorthStar V8.

    Second-generation transverse (Front Wheel drive)

    Here are the threads that I gleaned some of the issues from.
    standard transmission for grand prix? - Motor Trend Motor Trend Garage Forum
    Pontiac Grand Prix Questions - Are there any manual transmissions that will mount up to a 3800 Series... - CarGurus

    Here is the "Getrag" wkipidea. Getrag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    They did not list the Grand Prix under the 282 and I did not find anything on the "Getrag" web site. They could have missed the Grand Prix when the there listing it, or maybe not, as we all know you can't put anything on the internet that is not true. :-)

    As in a lot of things in life, it's a mater of how you ask the question. :-)
    I will post some that I thought interesting for future reference.

    This was not a Grand Prix and it was older, but interesting.

    A list of manuals in cars that will bolt up? Whatever was put into the cavalier 2.2 base model, and the getrag 282 and 284 from the Z34 Lumina.. And I'm not 100% that that G6 F40 6 speed will bolt up, but I heard that's been done before as well...
