Well the GETRAG transmissions company is actually a German company started in 1935. The GETRAG transmission that I was talking about in the SVT is also the same one in the Mini. 6 speed trans.
Getrag makes alot of transmissions, now they have a contract with Ford making trans. And yes they did make the getrag 284 transmission.
They started north american production in the early 80's and have since established an entire division here...
The only reason I went through this is because of this

I will bump this thread just to say these transmissions made for GM cars were made in Muncie, Indiana.
