They aren't bad per say, but they aren't good either.
The good
Probably better light output than your stock fogged up leaky headlights
Look better?
The bad
They bounce...a lot (can be fixed, just takes times)
The light output is fair at best
The mounting bracket likes to break, especially where the bosses are for mounting them to the car (for 97-03)
Expensive
I've had the Spyder Gen 1 before.(for the 97-03 cars) I think they look good, but the chrome corners kind of suck. Even with a good quality HID set, the output isn't very good from them. Took ages of testing, fitting, using zipties, foam, etc to get them to not bounce like crazy.
Retrofits are a MUCH MUCH better option. Either make them yourself (there are a few VERY good writeups that detail every step) or browse the for sale threads and buy a pre-built set. The light output is amazing. They look the best (in my opinion) and are by far the best bang for the buck.
If you really really just gotta have the halo projectors, go for it. If you feel like you want really good headlights that are brighter, aimed way better, less hassle, and better quality, look for a retrofit. (I've been rocking mine now for about 9-10months, and would never ever use anything else.
Either retrofit some projectors and halo's or stick with OEM style headlights. The light output on the ebay projectors are horrible compared to the OEM lights.
Thanks for the info!! I would really have function better than looks.
Now my next question is wat hid kits are you guys using. Ive started pricing them on ebay amd amazon. And there are so many different sets idk wat to use
35W will be plenty
Also, ebay-amazon HID kits are cheap. They do work, though it's somewhat random for how long (I've had 4 sets)
Best thing to do it get 1 high quality set (they heat up MUCH faster, are brighter, more stable, and just better) than deal with the ebay kits. (I do still have 1 set working after about 1.5years though)
Here check this out http://www.grandprixforums.net/showthread.php?t=65476
There is two options I would recommend
Option 1
Stick with factory housings and just get HIDs
Option 2
Get a retrofit done. A custom retrofit will out perform any other Grand Prix headlight on the market hands down. The output is 8 to 1 better than factory, plus if you get a custom retrofit done, it is done the way you want the headlights done.
-For HID kits, really any HID kit will work, but here comes the real question of how long will each kit last. I have dealt with many different HID kits. By far, hands down, Morimoto is the best! Quality is unbeatable, customer service is outstanding, and warranty is a no questions ask. Yes Morimoto is a little bit on the high end, but seriously, I cant express it enough, "You get what you pay for". There are some other brands out there that are good for what you pay, no doubt. What it boils down to in the end is what are you looking for in a kit.
35w is plenty but once you go 35w and you see a 55w you will be mad that you didnt go with the 55w. I personally started with a 35w....I then saw what a 55w can do...All my projectors in my car are now 55w.
Okay thanks for the info! Ill start looking into everythings
I got my HID kit from vvme. They is good for the price
