I have an 06 grand prix, I'm looking to make my fogs my DRL's. I would also like to have full control of my lights when it gets dark too if possible.

I tried searching but couldn't find what I'm looking for.

    Any help is appreciated.. Thanks!

U can't. Its wired into the computer. For DRL's their a lower output power and when it gets dark it send a full 12+ volts.

That's why. Unless u wanted a switch and manually turn them on/off every time

When I hop in cars at work, I just quick flip the switch to off to turn off the DRLs/headlights. They won't come back on till you turn it on or go to auto.

So no way to make the fogs come on without the headlights?

You can do it, but it won't be easy...

I don't recall if the DRLs are as bright as the headlights in GPs.... That may be something to keep in mind.

Basically you would just have to rewire it so that instead of running power from the DRL relay to the headlights, you would reroute it to the fogs. If the way I said that makes sense...

For my silverado I am running all my lights when I hit my highs using resistors across the bulb relays in the fuse box. Personally, I think heads and fogs for DRLs on a GP would be better than just one or the other.

I currently have it wired so that my fogs are on when I turn my car on. When I hit my highbeams all my lights stay on, lows, highs and fogs. Also when I lock my car only the fogs light up.

I guess I need to find a way to bypass the headlights from getting the drl input.

It was so much easier in my 00 grand prix lol

This is probably a lot of work for nothing really.

Yeah. It could be something simple that you're overthinking too though. I'm sure there's someone else out there who would appreciate a write up if you figured out how to do it.

I don't like messing around with electrical stuff too much. But I might play around a little bit tomorrow providing the weather is co-operative.

If I figure something out then I'll definitely post it up.

I have access to all the wiring diagrams through school, so I'll see what I can find.

Maybe someone can make sense of this and figure out a way. Not sure if I should be posting this but oh well...

"For low beam operation, battery positive voltage is applied at all times to the coil and switch side of the low beam relay in the underhood fuse block. Ground is applied at all times from G202 to the headlamp switch. When the headlamp switch is placed in the HEAD position, ground is applied to the headlamps ON signal circuit to the body control module (BCM). When either the headlamp switch is placed in the HEAD position or ALC is enabled, the BCM applies a ground to the low beam relay control circuit. This energizes the relay and applies battery positive voltage to the LEFT and RIGHT low beam fuses in the underhood fuse block. Battery positive voltage is then applied from the fuses through the headlamp supply voltage circuit to the headlamps. Ground is applied at all times to the left headlamp from G101 and to the right headlamp from G100."

    "Fog Lamps
The FOG LAMPS fuse in the underhood fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the coil and switch side FOG LAMP relay in the underhood fuse block. When the fog lamp switch is placed in the ON position, ground is applied from G202 through the fog lamp switch to the body control module (BCM). The BCM then applies a ground to the FOG LAMP relay control circuit. This energizes the FOG LAMP relay, and applies battery positive voltage to the fog lamp voltage supply circuit. Ground is applied to the left fog lamp from G101 and to the right fog lamp from G100. The park lamps or low beam headlights must be ON in order for the fog lamps to illuminate. In addition, the BCM will send the serial data class 2 message to illuminate the fog lamp indicator in the IPC. Fog lamp operation will be cancelled whenever the park lamps are turned OFF or the high beam headlamps are turned ON."

On my 04, all I have to do is hit the fog light switch; they turn on regardless of whether or not the headlights are on as well.
