During regular driving and WOT runs, temps will be still around +10-20 from ambient, the only time the IAT's will rise is when sitting still or stop and go traffic.

You have HP Tuners, go out and just log a normal route to work or somewhere and see for your self.

I did notice it in hptuners. And seems alot higher then it should. I already have a k&n off the maf.

the temps for example would be 20° outside and 70+ IAT. Give or take a few..

I usually don't wot ever.. And I haven't gotten my wideband yet so I haven't gotten into that phase of tuning.

My driving is "suburban" lol one mile to work and back once for lunch once home.. Maybe 5miles total a day. A 30 mile trip once a week to the old man's house.

When in moderate acceleration or for extended highway runs up too 100+ the temps never really drop much on the IAT.. I just figured if I could get as close to ambient/cooler temps that's only going to result in better performance. Probably not even measurable I know but it's the thought that counts? lol

With the 04+MAFS they are very slow to respond to temps unlike the 97-03 guys once it gets hot it dosent like to move around much. since both the ls4 and v6 share the same maf i know what a piece of crap it is. If you look up my writeup on the ls7 maf install i have pics and diameters of the inside of it. and i would definatley recommend upgrading to either a breakout standalone IAT sensor or a northstar MAF etc... they are cheap, respond faster and easily keep up with your future mods.

So...you think a FWI will pull in colder air and help you with your 1 mile runs to and from work? This has been beaten like a whore on Saturday.

Lets really be honest here...Intakes do nothing. you will be lucky to see a 2whp gain if that on these cars. And an intake outside the bay pulling in "fresh air" won't increase that number.

Besides we have enough panel gaps that will let the cold air hit the intake in the engine bay anyways

So then why do u have a cone hanging off your maf like everyone else in this thread?
I'm not saying these add 15whp but for the supercharged and v8 guys there are some decent gains to be had. And as far as temps it does matter if your tune has a. More aggressive spark iat table done

on my gxp i have it near the fender well opening, but i took some the flexable intake piping and put something similar to drunkies couler on his intake behind one of the vents in the front buper. kinda just pushing the air. I know when me n cocoor where running it with HPT my temps were lower than a k and n setup by about 10 degrees

I'm trying to get cooler intake temps period. Its too high according to hptuners. Whether it give me hp or does absolutely nothing I have ocd when it comes to stupid **** like this..if it results in a better tune good if not so be it..

personally I like the look of a fwi anyways.. I also don't like the look of a hai off the maf..im not saying I'm not in that exact boat at the moment (mine is a k&n stock filter without the pcm side of the box temporarly zip tied in place) and my previous 04 gtp was a cone k&n off the maf..

Unless its fwi it just looks ghetto/ricey to me. No offense to anyone, anything is better than stock I'm sure just not a huge fan.

You know you can change that table so the PCM doesnt care what the temps reach. Instead of it flashing the red warning light at say 90, move it up to 120+.

I dont know about that one man, if youre IAT's are up to 120+ your MAT (manifold air temp) would be almost double that which is no bueno. think max id scale up to is 95*

I guess you don't understand what I am saying.

Maybe the factory settings have the gauge flash red at 90-100, but if you don't give a **** like me, I set the red flash to turn on higher at over 120 because I'd rather not see it yelling at me that my IAT temps are getting really high while I'm not moving.

I have never ever seen my IAT's above 100ish while moving and once I get into a run temps always jump down to around 10 above ambient.

Gotcha thought you were takling about the IAT vs. spark retard table but youre refering to the scanner warning settings. my mistake.
