My 04 GT2 recently developed a popping noise that I hear when back out of my driveway and at lower speeds, mostly when braking and accelerating. I just replaced the wheel bearings and the passenger side CV axle in the front (driver side CV replaced not too long ago), and the noise is still there. I was thinking maybe it's the sway bar links. Any ideas?

Could be sway bar links or ball joints. Get under there and look around. It's easier for you to do that then for us to guess over the interwebz.

I think I'm going to rule out sway bar links. Forgot those were just changed in February. As soon as I get a chance will inspect the ball joints.

Just found my popping. Try taking off the diagonal braces, and going for a drive then if it quits put them back on and torque the crap out of them

That was it! I cannot believe it. Makes sense now that I think about it. The noise started right after I had to remove the brace to change the battery a few weeks ago.

Awesome!! Glad it was that easy for you also.

I couldn't believe it on mine either. My friend works on police cars for the county, and is quite familiar with impalas. So he brought that up the other night so I figured I'd give it a shot, and low and behold it worked

Do you feel it in the brake pedal or the steering wheel? These cars have really crappy intermediate shafts that loose the lubrication thus causing the pop noise/feeling when youre turning and braking/acceleration.
