Hi I'm a bit of a noob with the 04+ GP's. I traded in my 02 GT for a 05 GT. I keep seeing references to GT1 and GT2. How do I know what I have. My car is pretty well optioned (HUD, leather, polished wheels) any help would be great thanks

GT2 is just an option. If I recall it's a GT with all the options. Leather, HUD, etc. Could be wrong though

Get an RPO sheet for your VIN. Then you will know.

In 2004 there was GT1, GT2, GTP, & GTP Comp G. GT1 & GT2 were naturally aspirated (no supercharger). The GTP & Comp-G had the supercharged V6 with the Comp-G getting some upgrades in suspension and some other goodies like HUD.

For 2005 there was GT, GTP, & GXP. GTP was NA, GTP was the supercharged 3.8, and GXP had the 5.3L V8.

In 2006 GTP was discontinued and GT gained the supercharged V6. The base Grand Prix had the NA v6. It pretty much remained this way through 2008 when the GT was dropped along with the supercharger.

Take your vin to your local GM dealer and ask the service department for the rpo code list and hand them your vin. It'll take 2 minutes and that includes waiting for them to print it.
