I was driving home last night and about 20 min into driving all my gauges stopped working except my MPH gauge. My gas, temp and RPM gauges don't move and stay at the bottom, as if the car is turned off? But My MPH gauge works just fine? Also, my DIC just says error on everything I try to look at?

    Thanks for any help.

Its happened on my car and if you google search it comes up. Do you have a remote start? Cause thats why mine was doing it, never found a cure cause it stopped, except to turn off the car, clear the messages on the DIC, open the door, close the door and restart the car, that seemed to get it to stop.

Yes, I have remote start, but I never used it the day it started doing this. It did it again the other day, but hasn't again since. Still trying to figure out why it's been doing this and I can't seem to get a definite answer.

    Thanks Drunkie.

Mine did the same thing one day while I was driving on the freeway in the rain. I pulled over and checked my fuse box and it turns out my radar detector wire had come unplugged and was causing a short. Hasn't happened since then.

^I'm guessing he wired the red positive wire into one of the 10 amp fuses.

I have my LED tube lights wired into one of the 10 amp fuses in my car too so maybe that's why it did it?

He is correct. Since I don't have OnStart I just used that empty slot. It happened like a year and a half ago though so I can't remember exactly what came unhooked from where. I think the ground came undone and touched something else in the fusebox cause I use that big metal piece with a hole for a ground. I now have two huge washers there though so that ***** ain't movin lol.

I'm having this damn problem too. All gauges stop working except speedo. DIC works too but only after you clear the messages about low fuel and check traction control. Anyone find a fix for it yet? I am having the long cranking problem too on start up but only after it has been running for a bit. I am going to try and replace the crank sensor to see if it helps.

If anyone has come up with any other ideas for this fix please chime in.

    Thanks!

What type of interface do you guys have for your remote start? Is it the old key wrapped in wire trick ir do you have a separate data bus module that connects to the car without having to use a spare key?

Explanation Time -- There are three reasons for this:

    1) 04-05 databus can get flooded, they are under very heavy load, adding a remote start can piss this system off very easily. Even one small bit error in a command on the bus can cause a total melt down like the car is a ****ing 3 year old that wants ice cream and mommy wont give it.

    2) Aftermarket radio, believe it or not the radio has a data line on the CAN bus, this data line feeds the DIC the date, but it also seems it does more. When the radio is removed this data line is now gone, the car will ask hey radio whats up, the radio doesn't respond, the car goes YO RADIO?! and then the car has a total melt down like the car is a ****ing 3 year old that wants ice cream and mommy wont give it.

    3) There was something about corrosion on the BCM and PCM pins and several other connectors causing fluctuating signals causing more meltdowns.

I have heard rumors that by switching to a 5 button DIC can fix these issues in some instances depending on the root cause, the radio issue can be resolved by installing the radio in the trunk and running the data line back to it.
