I'll be doing a LIM gasket replacement on my 04 Comp G, which i've read have the older crap gaskets. Was going to upgrade to the new GM design but read that felpro has newer metal framed replacements as well. The felpro kit also comes with O-rings and stuff which would end up being cheaper than buying GM + the extra gaskets.

I don't mind paying the extra money if it is worth it, but didn't know what you guys thought about GM vs Felpro on these new designs. Thanks!

    gm should be fine.

just make sure you get permadry plus second design.

that should be the al one.

So i guess you guys are happy with the fel-pro as much as the GM's then.

Thanks for the part #'s man. So those are all good for the series 3 as well? A lil bit of confusion on what I need...does the fel-pro come with the injector o-rings and lower intake o-rings? If so, then is this all i need....

    LIM gasket (MS98014T)
    Supercharger Gasket (MS95744)
    Coolant Elbows (while i'm there)

    Thanks!

I called GM dealer for LIM gasket They said there were 3 of them. The one for my 05 GTP was a code 4 engine and would have to be ordered for $65. Anyone know the difference in the gaskets???

    not really.

All of the LIM to head castings are supposed to be the same.

They're the same design, the cost is different tho... not sure why

    GM# 89017816 (L36/L26) - 64.16
    GM# 89017825 (L67/L32) - 66.40

But I used both on both engines Ive put in my car, they are the same part, same design, just a different price *shrugs*

btw I work at a GM dealership, go and find out if they keep the NA set, I bet they do, I ALMOST ordered the set for my GTP and my boss was like no no no, we stock that just in a different number, it was the NA style but then I checked... same parts

PS: let the record stand, the 1st engine spun a bearing 3months after replacing the gaskets, thus the 2nd engine and I replaced all the gaskets just to make sure, original upper end is still solid on engine 1 with the Felpro Gasket kit, and I have about 3k on the 2nd engine with the NA gasket set, and trust shes holding together well enough... laid down some rubber after the first 1000 miles

Those are the exact same ones the dealer said he had in stock, But he needed my VIN number to know which one. BUT, when he plugged my VIN number in it came up with another Number they would have to order. The computer called it the Code 4 engine. What ever the heck that means??? I should have asked for the GM part number. I will get it tomorrow when I order it.

Ya the "Code 4" means the Vin# pulls up the 10th digit as a 4, for the engine (L32)... same gaskets as the L67 (mine)... trust me the OTHER set that he keeps in stock is the same thing, just cheaper because its not for the "supercharged" application, but there is NO difference

PS: If it makes you feel better, let him order it in, then have him pull the other set, just for kicks and grins... when they are the same in YOUR eyes, go with the cheaper one and then go buy a McDonalds BigMac on Me LOL

The S2 L67 SC gasket is not the same as the L32 gasket.

On the LIM part numbers at the dealer. You can use any as long as they are the aluminum gaskets.

I've seen the little cover under the TB for the coolant jacket included in one or two of the ones I've picked up. It's not usually needed, but it'll up the cost. It's about $5 dealer cost by itself.

TL.. is that the aluminum or other gasket? My understanding is depending on year the LIM changed on the L32's. One gasket has seperate thicker o-rings to accomodate a recessed area at the coolant ports and the newest style had the thinner o-rings as part of the gasket itself.

    Uh..ok

So is it the aluminum one

    Or the other one

Here's an L67 Gen 3 gasket for reference only. Notice where the bolts are in relation to the opening into the LIM on this and the Gen V ones.

Your knowledge ceases to amaze, Bill

Honestly, I have no idea... my catalog gives a basic illustration (mainly just a engine breakdown of the manifolds and everything in relation), the description is just Supercharger Gasket, but since we don't stock that gasket I cant tell for certain.

I would guess that since its a $42 gasket vs the standard one for my l67 @ $13, Id "guess" its aluminum... but not sure

Ok, crossreferencing left me with nothing, since it only shows 1 number everything just came back as a supercharger gasket and just a basic illustration. But after some researching, google IS my friend...

    GM #12574474 L32 (4) 04-05 - $41.91 ... same paperish design that we use for the L67s

    NOW
    GM #12584411 L32 (4) 06-07 - $42.10 ... is the alluminum design

If that's what your after, make sure you list that you want the 06+ gasket
