Okay well I want to order a Tuned PCM. Been told to stay away from ZZP. However I have heard that some companies out there use ZZP anyhow. So who should I order from? I am considering Intense Racing from reading some reviews on them. Any other place you would reccomend?

Also if I go through Intense Racing, they dont have an option for the 2005 Grand Prix however they do for the 2005 Grand Prix GT. Will it make a difference since mine is not factory GT?

Last thing what options should I go with for tuning the PCM? I do know I would like the speed limiter removed, rev limiter removed or changed, and possibly the shift points changed a bit. Dont want the shift changed dramatically as my car does have higher miles.

Here is my mod list as of now.
    1. MSD Could Packs
    2. MSD 10mm Wires
    3. AC Delco Iridiums
    4. 180* Tstat
    5. 2.5" or 3" Custom Downpipe (doing today)
    6. Resonator Delete - with glass pack (doing today)
    7. CAI

Thats about it as of now. Probably going to be doing the HV3 insert this spring.
My last question also is, where is the location of the PCM at on the '05 GP?

    Thanks guys!

    1/ useless
    2/ useless
    3/ ok
    4/ ok
    5/ Which is it 2.5 or 3?
    6/ dumb
    7/ probably hurting you

Stay clear of zzp pcm's. I think Overkill has the best canned tune but good luck trying to get in touch with him. You can try

glad we have such helpful people here... lol your lookin fine all the way around as long as your car is NOT supercharged and it has the v6 3800 motor you should select the 2005 grand prix gt option i would go with intense or dhp (can be found on 3800performance) the pcm was the silver thing you found inside your factory airbox when you took it out. hope this helps

How as I not helpful? I told him what I thought was the best PCM. I also told him my opinion on his so called mod list. Jesus, its one thing to help people and its another thing to answer dumb questions like "where is my pcm"? Search button and read, is that more help? However if you want to hold peoples hands and spoon feed them answers to basic questions, so be it.

My thong is not bunched and no I don't know it all but Im willing to bet their are many threads on

    1/ The best canned tune
    2/ Where is the pcm?
3/ useless mods that have no effect on performance
4/ how great these cars sound with no resonator

I could go on, that is my point. He joined June/09 so Im sure he is familier with the sight and the search button. Tons of info here, read.

this is true... but please search the phrase... Where is the pcm? you joined in july... you should know but will find out it will not search anything pcm is a 3 letter "word" and it wont include it. useless yes.. but maybe he wanted to dress up the underhood a little bit with the plugs and wires. you could have informed him they do not help performance without making him feel like an ass. and although i agree they sound terrible but some do like the sound of not having a resonater. i dunno if you get frusterated helping people.. just dont answer no one forced you to

Thanks man. I am not going to reply to that punks response. I acturally havent put on my CAI yet, so I was not aware of where the PCM was located. I did search but entering "PCM" was too short and "Location of PCM" brought up nothing. And actually I got a hell of a deal on my coilpacks and wires thats why I went with the MSD.

As far as the downpipe, I am fabbing one up instead of buying one probably. Didnt get around to it. Got a glass pack today and put it on my exhaust setup, just waiting for more time to work on a downpipe.

Your the better man not responding. You could have been like me before I joined GPF awhile back. I knew how to make the FWI, but when i opened the stock air box I was like "what the hell it this thing"? Then realizing the wiring harness attached, I put 2 and 2 together lol. It takes time to do things and research is the "key" to these cars. Your on your way, just don't listen to "everyone" on here. How long is the glasspack?

i gotcha. might wanna be carful if your having pipe crush bent for the downpipe becase it will be smaller in the bends. wont be a true 3 inch or 2.5. whichever you choose to do. the pcm is in the box. you'll notice it right away. and i understand he didnt have a great response. but i wouldnt call him a punk either. he seems like a knowledgable guy and could prob help in the future ya know. alot of people on here have become *****y about some things but they are also the people who i have alot of respect for and have been around these motors and know them inside and out. just some helpful advise to survive on grand prix forums haha. but seriously if you have any questions just ask. well search first then ask haha

I don't see what the big deal is about dropping thermostats. Your engine is physically and chemically made to operate at about 210* F. If you lower that, you're changing the conditions in which the engine was designed to run. That's not the kind of thing you can "tune out," and because of this i will not drop temperature

it does help more when youre heavily modded, but i dont think it should be something people do with bolt ons.

No doubt. I think there is a point when it's okay to do, but most people and almost everyone who does it really shouldn't
