Cold air. Most short ram kits only suck hot air. Which is worthless. better off leaving it stock

I have a bit of a hybrid. My filter sits halfway in and halfway out of the fender well. I still get pretty good mileage (31), but can put a shield around it to direct more cool air to it when I want.

what about a short air intake with a large (say 6in or so) piece of tubing/pipe leading from the fender over the intake cone?

Hot air intakes will get you the best MPG, without a doubt. A cold air intake will get you some butt dyno difference. I went straight from a hot air intake to my WizAired and the top end difference it made was clear the first time I got on it.

both. pipe should be pretty heat resistant, and don't cheap out on the filter. I went with the 7" K&N, and i love it. i don't know if anyone uses anything else, but i've heard airraid (sp) is pretty good.
