so i decided to do my first visual mod to my car today. i hate that there is no grill in the lower valence, so i changed that. i went to home depot and bought some of what they call "hardware cloth" for 8 bucks. i took it home, took off the grey lower plastic piece to the body, and cut out the cloth to fit over the back. it took me about 2 hours total, but that was just because i took my time getting it just right, and it didn't come out perfect, but i think it looks better than if it were blank.

there she is...let me know what you think...not bad for 8 bucks? or does it look better with nothing there?

It doesn't look too bad. I think a wire mesh similar in size and style of your upper grille would look better, though. You could even paint it with a few coats of black.

i was actually going to do that, i had the paint and everything...i think i just wanted something in there for now. i still have a ton more mesh, i would like to refine how it sits in there, cuz there are some bends that don't look awesome (haha). i just wanted something in there and if it really bothers me i know exactly how to do it again, and i can redo it if i want...

...also, i think i'm going to get a chrome grill insert for the upper grill, just not yet. i was thinking about making one with this stuff that I have, but the wire is too thin and it bends too easy. thats why i didn't end up painting the lower black, plus, i didn't think you would be able to see it down there anyway...

i really just pulled off the lower plastic part by removing the grommits and pulling it off. then, i cut the mesh a little longer than the opening (with scissors) and formed it to the opening. i did not secure them using any other method than this. on my 07, it just gets held in place when you put it back on because there's another piece that it flushes up against. there's really nothing else to it, just put it back on!

I agree. Something that matches the upper grills would look alot better.

take a look at this link, OQCGP :: Ontario Quebec Club Grand Prix I'm not sure if your openings on a 04+ are too large for dodge ram grills but Its worth looking in to.

thats what my original plan was. i couldn't find a good way to fit the grille in the upper part. plus, the mesh that i got bent too much for it, and it wouldn't have looked good at all. i am going to refine my design and redo it along with the upper grilles. i'll post when i'm done. as for right now though, it looks better than nothing in there at all imo.
