On my 94 GP it was the same as all of the other GM vehicles for changing the knob (a staple like C clip and done) and I wound us using one from a monte carlo. I never did it for my 97 because of the performance shift button, but now that I have an 07 I no longer have that button and would like the T style shifter. This car though uses a very short phillips screw, and the slots to locate and keep the shifter from rotating are very short and at 3 and 9 o'clock as opposed to 12 and 6.

Long story short does anyone know off hand what other model GMs have shifters that would fit an 04+ GP? I was at the junkyard yesterday and doing a quick skim of chevy even the newer cars were using the old style.

Yeah that would be what I was looking for. There was no answers so after two trips to the junkyard I found that the shifter from the Saturn Aura kinda fits. The notches and the fastener are right except the Saturn's shifter sits higher relative to the notches, so I had to hog out the entire inside of the shifter and modify the lever that pushes the button on the car itself. I did this about a month ago and not only it looks way better, but it sits about 1-2 inches shorter than stock.

Now for the next project, changing out the steering wheel (stock for stock).
