I recently put a zzp 3 inch stainless exhaust with no resonator on my 06 supercharged gp, and 3 inch zzp no cat down pipe was also installed. The drone was horrible everything in the car rattled like crazy... So I bought the zzp 3 inch resonator and installed it... it made a huge difference but I still have annoying drone when the torque converter clutch locks... at cruising speeds, going up hill ect... My question is will headers make the drone worse? Does the cat really quiet the exhaust that much that without it ill have trouble getting rid of all the drone? I hate to put the stock exhaust back on... Is the drone just a inherited side affect with straight through mufflers? Any recommendations?
    Thanks

    Chambered mufflers on a 3800 = drone.

The cat converter acts as a resonator and only having the ZZP res won't be enough to quiet it completely.

I would buy second smaller resonator to remove the rest of the drone. I prefer the vibrant ultra quiet resonator, takes away nearly all the unwanted sounds.

Resonators, big ones for the stock location. Vibrant is among them toward the bottom. - http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...e-part-numbers

    2.25" pipe diameter, sorry.

The zzp resonator that I put on is in the stock location, not really any room to add another after the zzp I would have to put it in the down pipe... Would it still be effective before the zzp resonator? I do have a set of headers to put on not sure if it will make the drone better or worse...

It won't matter where you put it, installing it before the other resonator will work just fine.

It's how I installed a vibrant ultra quiet res on my old truck. Catless y-pipe to res, then straight into a magnaflow muffler. The res and muffler were maybe 8 inches apart.

I must be a lucky one. I didnt have drone on either of my 04 Prixs. Both had custom exhaust. Comp g has pacesetter headers and no resonator, the 04 NA had plogs and no resonator.

Also adding the exhaust counter weights from Ford Crown Vic can help also. Had guy who swapped exh on Cobalt,.SS and he tried it and it works.Drone is from exhaust system setting up a vibration from exhaust pulses. Results may vary, may need more or less weight.
