Good Afternoon to all, this is my first post on the Pontiac Forums.

To get to business, I'm wondering if I could just pop off the weather stripping piece where the door meets the window? They are chipping and rusting and they just look terrible now.

    Thanks!

It would looks really ugly without them. I would just sand it down and repaint it.

What grit of sand paper would you recommend?

your past sand paper. your at the cut and bleed stage there lol as mine was. i used a utility knife to cut that plastic off, then sanded the hell out of it to get it to bare metal. you dont want to remove the wiper part that touches the glass if its still there. cut a straight line along it if need be.

to remove pull the triangle trim off the door, loosen up the 3 mirror nuts, or take it off is even better. then open the door, pull the cap off the end of the trim and take the screw out, lift the screw side like 2 inches and pull it back then lift it up and off, you'll feel the locks free up.

then prep and paint them clear coat too.

cant tell if its a 2 or 4 door, back doors come off the same way. trim cap and screw is on the front of the back door, get to it with the front door open back door shut.
