I am in need of some factory style lifters for an l36, I would prefer the comp cams oe style ones. Car is getting torn apart next week for lifters and the shop wants 144 for factory lifters I figured if I could put something better in there for cheaper than let's do it.

Just buy them on ebay or something.

Look for LS7 lifters, they are the exact same because 3800's and LS car/truck engines all run the same lifters.

They are only like $90 for 16.

Do ls7 lifters need to be installed any specific way? Like with preload? Or just put them the same as factory ones?

They are just standard lifters, soak them in oil and install them. Nothing special about these things.

Cool zzp says something about 3/4 turn instead of 1/2 or something. I suppose I have never installed lifters and these are being done by my mechanic but as soon as I showed him the ls7 lifters on zzp he immediately said he would rather put factory ones in but if I can convince him ls7 are the same and don't install any different I'm sure he will be ok with it, anything I can do to knock down this bill, he is saying 700 including 144 for the lifters and 40 on new gaskets (car needs gaskets anyway) so if I can grab um on here for 50 I knock that bill down to 6

The torque specs and "turns" are for the rockers, the lifters themselves have no "spec" like that. They don't have bolts holes or anything, they just slip down in the hole and the roller rides the camshaft and that's it.

LS lifters are the same as factory L36/L67 lifters. You can look at rockauto to cross the part numbers if you like. I compared a 2000 Pontiac grand prix L67 to a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 5.3, both use the same non active fuel management lifters. Everyone I know just calls them LS7 lifters because they come right up on ebay or internet searches, LS7 just makes it easier to say.
