Had my hood and bumper painter (red) it was done by the dealer as a favor because he screwed up my engine and cost me $1200.00 for another shop to fix it. So instead of going to court he agreed to paint my bumper and hood. I already had paint, primer aand clear coat when I got it back I noticed he never opened the can of clear coat. How can I tell if he maybe used his own clear coat or never clear coated it. Now I will admit it is super shiny.

    Thanks

Well, if its shiny then most likely they used their own clear. Last I recall when you shoot basecoat/clearcoat paint the actual paint looks dull until you hit it with the clear and buff it out.

    Thats easy..

2000 grit sandpaper and sand a lil spot. If the sandpaper is red its single stage if its white its clearcoat..U will need to buff the spot after that u sanded.

Orrrrr he could just take a little rubbing compound on a white terry cloth and lightly rub it in for a few moments, take a look at the cloth....Any color removed will be a pretty good indicator that there is no clear....That way you can just skip the sanding step, no sense in sanding when you can just do that
