bought the racetronix hotwire kit and w body fuel pump for my top swapped GP. car now cranks a lot to start. re-installed old stock pump assembly (yes i have two complete assemblies) and viola! car starts right up.

discovered factory crimp on racetronix pump was leaking and won't hold pressure for immediate start ups. replaced with new clamps startup with racetronix pump still sucks. been running stock pump so engine doesn't have to crank for forever.

racetrnoix offers support via their online forum. i've posted my question a month ago and noone has replied. i'll NEVER do business with racetronix again!

Have you tried to contact them any way besides their forum?

Same here. I contacted support via email for a different issue and got stonewalled. Poor customer service.

The company that Moar Performance Sells or Tengis is the same way. Reptile and I have found you have to put a bit of fuel resistant permatex around the nipple on the fuel pump let it dry then put the hose on and clamp down on it. The seal of the barb and hose just isn't air tight, thus not holding a prime.

Sucks! I know. I've just dealt with mine. He had a hose blow off once.

HighFlowPumps wanted me to buy a new canister and have them install the pump for me for an additional 80 bux then told me I need to rewire the pump too. F that. Sell a good product.

Use something like this but look for the hardening kind.

Pretty sure the Racetronix pump is venturi only, the stock GT canister/module is not a venturi style module. You need to use a 97-00 GTP bucket for the racetronix venturi pump other wise you will have issues with hard starting and fueling with low tank levels.

I have both style canisters. I'm using the stock GT canister/pump/module to use/drive the car. I also have venturi/gtp canister assembly that I used for the racetronix pump.

I have sold quite a few pumps and only a handful of people have this problem. I also have them installed in my three wbodies... no hard starts here. It could be the check valve in the pump. I always install the hoses with the supplied clamps and such. If you believe the problem to be the hose on top, you can actually replace the plastic currogated fuel hose with a submersible rubber hose that will undoubtedly seal instead.

...then told me I need to rewire the pump too. F that. Sell a good product.
If you are running the pump without a fuel pump rewire then you are doing yourself a disservice. These pumps are a vane-impeller design that pulls more amperage over a gerator style pump like stock or a Walbro 255. They NEED to be rewired to function at their best with full voltage going to them.

When I install these pumps I drill a hole in the top of the fuel pump canister and run the wires from the pump pigtail out of the hole. I run a 12 gauge wire from the battery to the trunk feeding a relay that is activated by the stock wiring. I also connect the pump ground to the stock harness and add an EXTRA ground that is mounted to bare metal in the trunk somewhere or underneath the car.
