I need a relatively cheap tuner for my 97 gp gtp that can scan for knock and make adjustments for tire and gear changes. Any recommendations?

you only have two options, but i am not sure if either supports the 97's, but i am positive that if you get either one, you can make "something work" with them...

They both work fine with a 97.

I have a 97 and had my car tuned with HPT and now I own a DHP and tune with it on a regular basis.

HPT is a much nicer program to use. DHP has it's benefits too though.

Never used hpt, but heard great things about their scan tool. Hpt is pretty locked down for the cars you can use it on. Lots of credits need to be bought to use on more than one car.

I have the dhp unit and find it among with tiny tuner sufficient for my tuning needs. Dhp is wide open for a LOT of cars. But are hard to find sometimes.

I own HPT, and would prefer that over anything. But it's mainly because I'm so used to it. The editor and scanner are great and easy to understand once you get used to it. A new scanner is coming out soon too with tons of updates but no word on exactly what yet.

HPT has some of the best support and depending on the vehicle you can upgrade the OS on the PCM to support 2 and 3 bar map sensors for doing like turbo's and crap and you can have them swap tranny files etc for some vehicles. And if you bought HPT you get 8 credits to begin with, so thats 4 vehicles. Anything after that costs 100 per car or you can read up on buying a full year for a vehicle.
