i had been looking for a 9c1 impala for a while now, but no one had a shell for cheap. everywhere i looked they wanted top $ for high as mileage and either a blown motor or tranny

i was driving back to my shop from the city and ran across a grey one with a for sale sign
i called the guy and after the strangest conversation ive had in my life i got a price and went the next day to see it.

after driving it for 5 minutes i kind of fell in love. runs great, full GMPP suspension, 12" rotors and, toyo tires on police rims, high output alternator and HD tranny upgrade
    THE BAD PART
the car had a very ****ty earl shipe(sp?) paint job but that was the least of my worries.
blue interior ....with a brand new 03 tan rear seat .driver seat was trashed, and i can tell the passenger mirror was knocked off at some point. valve covers were pissing oil and subframe has a small crack in it from a speed bump. it has a few spots on it where you can tell it was orange at one point.
o and the day before i called someone had stolen the wiper blades

it was a cop car and then used as a taxi(still kind of smells like it too).....tho the mans wife gave me a bottle of frebreeze.....

i got a great deal on it and have already started thinking of ways to make this car a little more fun
it already has a race seat in it.....tho this was because i had few springs poking me in the ass the whole ride home the first day

tho i still have to scan it, i think it has 2.93s instead of 3.29s (very happy about that)

ill post some pics this weekend

Outstanding. Do a picture diary of all the work you do on the Impala. Would make for some great information and documentation for the community *cough* hint *cough*. LOL.

    So.. Just for clarification...

What's the difference between the Impala and Caprice?
My friend had a 9c1 Caprice that he had slapped some Impala SS stuff on and it looked EXACTLY like an SS...
    Signatures suck!

I think this is a new Impala cop with a 3800, nothing like a old caprice
    06 GXP - lowered, 20% tint

Its a W-Body Impala, so no Caprice counterpart. It shares the same platform ad the GP, Monte, Regal

Bob did it come with all that suspension stuff? I was just thinking it might be fun to find a 9c1 for cheap and start autoxing it and maybe some road courses. How does it handle compared to stock gp's?

yes it comes with the full GMPP suspension. i had all of that stuff on my 01 so i cant say it was any better really....just saves me the time of having to put it all on.
autox...........not a chance, its just a w-body. i would never do that with out redoing alot more then a couple bolt on suspension parts
this car is heavy....a good 200-300 more then the GTP.....mine was a little lighter then the average gtp.
once this car goes on a serious diet after the new year we will see how well it handles. im already dealing with the extra wind and road noise because of the lack of sound deading these cars come with. hell ive been used to it in Vs GP for the last couple months

    worlds lightest w-body impala??????
i wonder what duckcalls is weighing in at these days
im sure he likes his car more then i like mine so i can go a little more crazy
i would get a GTP 4 door if you wanted to auto x a w-body
they are lighter then the other models and the 4 doors have their weight better centered then the 2 doors ....not by much tho.
