Ok so I have headers coming in, thanks Austin (4THGENCAMAROFAN). Prepping for them to come in I placed an order with RockAuto for the band clamps I needed and a Solid Engine and Trans Mount because they need to be replaced anyways.

After waiting several days I got the clamps in yesterday, Today was the day for mounts.

After I got back from lunch, I find my box, open it and spot the Engine Mount. Pull it out and shake it (I know, that's what she said) nothing. Its solid. Put back in box and grab the tranny mount. Pull it out and shake it (more than twice, you're playing with it) What is this? Shake again Failure. Its full of fluid and sloshy like a dam water balloon.

I check the numbers on the box, its right DEA # A2712. Check the mount (I work parts, sometimes they get boxed wrong) DEA # 2712AHY (HY is for Hydraulic) Idiots working apparently can't match numbers.

So I get online, pull up my order, it is right for both solids so I send them an email. Nicely I take pics of the mount # and the box so they know I'm not foolin. Nicely request they fix it, suggested the right part be sent with a return label so I can send the wrong one back and not be out too many extra days.

This is what I get as a return email.

    Good afternoon,

I apologize for you receiving the incorrect part. I have setup a shipment for DEA Part # A2712 Solid Mount. This part should ship out within 24 hours. Upon shipment you will receive a tracking #.

Due to the nature of this problem you will not need to return the incorrect part.

    Thank you,

    Ben S.

As long as they don't change their mind and include a return shipping label for the wrong one, Yea I plan to sell. Likely, I will almost give it away. The Hydraulic version is less than $20 on RA +shipping so, IF I do get to keep it I will just let it go for shipping. Can't waste my good fortune.

Good luck on getting the right mount. Even those so called "Solid" mounts sometimes still have fluid in them. lol

I got two "Solid" mounts at the parts store and shook them thinking I was good because I heard no fluid. I then drilled into them and what do you know, fluid came out.

Make sure when you get both installed to look at the motor and see if it is tilting towards the passenger side of the car. Some of the aftermarket mounts apparently are shorter on the engine side and need to be spaced with washers or such.

Ya a little fluid wouldn't bother me, but this was soft and pliable just pushing on the rubber part. It was full of fluid, I just want a mostly solid so it will hold up better than stock. The Motor mount I shook it like it owed me money and didn't hear a thing, the trans was making noise as I picked it up, shook and thought it was going to come apart. I was like eh... no

Hopefully the replacement comes in like the Motor mount. It will make me happy. At some point I may go Polly Replacements but kinda nervous over the harsh vibrations. That and I'm being cheap

Yea I was going to compare height of the factory one, engine still sits level atm so as long as its not shorter overall it should sit about right.

Just an FYI...Anchor mounts apparently have the issue of not being the same height more than any other mount. I would stay away from them.

Yea I heard the same, I went with the DEAs. Hopefully they will work well, if not I can make some adapters or spacer plates for them.

So I'm in a bit of a quandary.

I got my replacement mount in, but to my dismay it was the same. 2712AHY part, bu the A2712 on the box. I sent a not so happy email in response but I'm left with 2 options.

I got a pre-paid return label for both mounts to go back and once they are returned I get full credit, but would still need a replacement tranny mount and all others I have found are vastly more expensive.

So do you guys think I should just keep them? $25 isn't much of a loss to just keep them, I could use one (same as a oem replacement so no worse than factory) and drill and fill with rtv to make a custom solid and replace down the line if needed. Or just replace with a poly from zzp later on when it goes on sale.

Just debating on what I should do.

Riiiight. Crap goes on sale at zzp soon.

Im not sure the zzp trans mount is okay for any ride height, theyre shorter. I would hope the compressed height is the same.

Ya well I could do a spacer later if I even went with fully Poly setup.

Just trying to decide what to do currently. Send back for credit and shop elsewhere for a possible working solid or just keep them and work with the 2 I have.

Odd. Check and see if the tranny mount has a tag that says 2712AHY or something different, please.

box says A2712, only number on product is "1114" but its mirrored.

    Honestly they sound hollow.

A2712 is hollow sounding and feeling.

    A2796 sounds hollow, feels solid.

Update: Drilled both, very much solid.

Stiffness makes sense considering the engine is many times heavier than the trans. Going to fill the lower cavity with urethane to be safe.

Well you either got lucky or they fixed the problem, both the original and the RMA I was told to keep were a 2712AHY hydraulic mount, I plan to drill one and fill with urethane and use the solid engine mount, as it is right. If worse comes to worse I will have a new replacement for the tranny and I will just order a Poli down the road when I get money to blow lol.

I think you should fill the bottom cavity though.

Even if solid, there is nothing below them to hold them up. They might collapse anyways.

Yea true. May drill both, let drain if anything is in them and fill just to be sure before I install them.
