A lot of this couldn't be done without my good friend Jeff. Before this build I could barely weld. Now I can lay a good bead and be confident with it. He's taught me a lot and really spearheaded the design of these parts. Which is nice as I don't have that engineering thought process with building materials.... at least not yet heh

Definitely. He's pretty good at explaining things and I guess I'm just good enough at understanding heh.
This swap has taught me way more than anything else has. I'm just thankful I have someone to guide me through it.

    To update:
Got some 1/8" plate to weld in between the ppf rails, it'll span the entire length and have a series of holes drilled out of it. Should look pretty awesome and be pretty darn strong. Also going to add a gusset to one of the diff brackets.
Poly engine mounts from a CJ7 Jeep arrived and should work perfect for mounting the 3800 in. Going to notch the sub frame so the oil pan has a little more room and I can tuck the engine a bit lower.

I also began tearing into the 3800 harness. Got it all unwrapped and started pulling out needless wires.... this may take some time

jeff sounds like me...a concierge racecar builder.... my heaps are going much better since I have the best work perks ive ever had....waterjet/cnc

where are you up here? the 442 is up in Algonquin but I live in hangover park with the Cressida and TR in my gayrage...Jr's nova is up in Cary but a lot of time we're hanging/working on our heaps at Harry's on rand

iirc the F body harness/pcm from 95/96 is a bit off as far as PCM file tuning....you may want to change to the 7440 hardware number PCM with a well mapped out 98/99 regal GS file that I use for my swaps
I have a buncha crap ill just give you to clear room from my shelves lol

we are going with 04+ DBW pcm's and harness's so I have a lot of the older cable tb stuff, pcm/harness/parts/sc carp

tell jeff i have tons of alum plate/etc just in my backyard and i can make crap easily off a .dxf or a good print

When I first found your twin engine thread (same car as my first car so it hit the nostalgic bone) I immediately thought "This guy would get along really well with Jeff I bet"
He's the kind of guy that taught himself Inventor in two weeks just to get his own parts designed and built ha.

I live up in Lake Villa/Antioch area.
It's funny my good friend Chris has an 86 Cressida that he drifts with. It's still got the 5m but has the W58 Celica trans. He loves his thing so I just had to show him what I was able to find of yours online heh.

I have the ECU and Harness from a 1998 Grand Prix, they all came with the engine. I'm just using f-body intake manifolds and throttle body. But I found a newer throttle body so it's still using the same MAF as the GTP throttle body.
I also got DHP Tuner and at the suggestion of ScottyDoggs updated my PCM file with the Overkill tune and deleted the Auto trans stuff as well as the egr crap.
Of course I'm still new to the 3800 as far as tuning and modifying goes. So I'll take any help I can get, the more info the better! heh
The hardware # on my ecu is 16200780 if that info sheds any light on anything for ya

I'll be sure to let Jeff know as well. I'm sure we'll need more parts machined at some point. Especially him as he's an isuzu V6 swap into his rx8, but he's making it a livable daily driver with everything working.

I found a thread for your cressida and noticed you modified the supercharger housing to move the throttle body over. I started cracking up because you modified it EXACTLY the way Jeff was telling me to go with it.

I have had issues with unusual knock reporting and retarding with non 7440 Hardware PCMS I will have to dig through my shelves and bring it with me next time I'm out towards Algonquin.
Unfortunately my Cressida POS is 83 and 84 only on a lot of things and it is a f****** unicorn as far as finding parts.

Oh interesting, I haven't read much about that but if it's just a question of swapping over ECU's I'm game.
And yea seems my buddy with the Cressida is looking to trade it heh.

    To update:
Got my driveshaft shortened by 4 inches and welded back up, came out pretty great just didn't snap any pics yet.
Also finished up the PPF by welding in a plate between the rails to hold everything to make it nice and rigid. Thinking I'll get these frame parts powder coated in a bright color so anytime work is done under the car they stand out.

Finished tapping the crankshaft for bigger flywheel bolts...

It's time I get this thing on the road.

Currently getting the brake system finished on the chassis, as well as some evap work in the rear. Soon the drivetrain goes in, and stays in.
