I have a 2002 Grand Prix GT and it's been acting weird lately. Every so often I'll be driving along and the ABS light will come on along with the TCS off light. And it stays on until I turn my car off. Soon as I turn it off and back on it is back to the way it was before with no lights on. It has done this probably 3 or 4 times in the last week. Any help is appreciated.

It sounds like a bad wheel hub assembly sensor. If that's the case, you can't just replace the sensor, the whole hub assembly has to be replaced.

make sure the harnesses between the lower control arm and the steering knuckle is ok first before you go tearing out wheel hubs. The wires like to break in that high stress area.

If it broke wouldn't the light be on constantly?

A bump or turn could kick it the connection loose. Since it is coming on after driving for a bit, my guess would be that it's not reading the same speed as the other side.

That being said, a rare possibility would be that the vehicle speed sensor is having problems. Usually anything abs and trac will be hub though.

I have already replaced the hub assemblies all around. 1 of them for a second time. Now that I think about it it seems to be after a bump that the light comes on

Find a local shop that can scan for abs codes and they should be able to tell you where it's coming from.. Could be a defective hub or wire connection. Either way don't assume just because the hubs been replaced that they are ok lord knows our hubs tend to have constant issues.

If it is only intermittent it sounds like a cracked wire going to the hub. As RED said, get it scanned to see which hub is the one causing the issues then check it out.

Mine did that when it went bad. It would only come on sometimes intermittent when I hit a bump or something. Then go off when the car went off then later come on when I hit a bad area coming home from work. Seems like it starts with intermittent then gets worse where it stays on all the time.

My car recently started doing this as well. However, mine only comes on when I spin the tires.
