    Hey guys,

So I'm working to get the GTP road ready, as the plan is to have it be my DD so we can sell the STS so we can get a bigger SUV for the growing family. Anyways, got the cooling system flushed, 180° Tstat, and replaced the dexcool with the universal stuff. The car starts, appears to idle fine. I bought the car sight unseen from an auction for a pretty reasonable price, so I'm hoping I don't have to dump too much into it. I took it for a spin today for the first time. Went through the neighborhood and it seemed fine, with mnimal throttle the trans shifts firm. Then I took it on the main road, and turning right, gave it a little gas and the engine bogged down and the "Reduced Engine Power" came on the little DIC. From what I have read, this could be a vacuum leak, where can I find a vacuum diagram?

Also, can you guys tell me if this is the stock pulley? I measured it, and believe it to be a 3.4''. I may try to find a stock pulley for now, as I don't know how the car is tuned. Hope you guys can help me out.

    Thanks,

    The Pulley

thats a after market pulley for sure. you'll want to get headers for the car, or at least a 3 inch down pipe. or take it off and put back a stock 3.8 pulley.

is the check engine light on as well? if so take it to a parts store to be scanned. it could be a bad maf sensor. you can unhook the battery for 30 minutes it may clear the message if nothing else is lit up like the cel.

Yeah, you want a stock pulley for sure.

And if the SES came on, try and get the code.

yep, CEL came on too. ar well as service abs and it told me there was no traction control.

the hose is to the overflow bottle. i had it out of the car to try and clean it out without much luck.

is there a poor mans way to scan for codes? i dont wnt to get stuck too far away from home if it goes into limp mode. luckily i was only going around the block this time, but pushing the pedal pretty much did nothing and it stalled a couple of times.

poor mans way is at a local parts store. its free. or buy a 20 dollar scanner on line.

abs and trac off could be a hub gone bad or a bad wires to the hub. jack each wheel up, one by one, leave the lugs tight, grab the top of the tire and push and then pull firmly/slowly, if the wheel moves that hub is bad.

your pcm is tuned if the fans stayed on after the car was turned off. maybe the the last owner had the pcm tuned. with that pulley on there that cant be a bad thing if it got a tune.

if you have a smart phone you can get the torque app for your android phone too, it will scan codes.

I ordered a bluetooth reader and Torque Pro. The tool should be here tomorrow. I will post back once I get the codes read.

    Hey guys,

how important is maf clocking? I took the throttle body off today and gave it a thorough cleaning, and the maf had the harness straight up with the flow arrow in the correct direction. Is the maf sensitive to clocking on the gp?

got my Bluetooth scanner today, pulled the codes and came up with a P1125 and a P2138. From what I have seen this is pointing to a Pedal Position Sensor assembly.

Just an update, got the new pedal installed and a 3.8'' pulley. But I need to pick up a new S/C belt. Should pick one up on my way home from work tomorrow and test everything out. All wires to the pedal and TB look to be in good condition, so this is consistent with it pointing to a bad pedal. Got the Pedal from AZ with a life time warranty, was $62. I will post back after I get the car started and take it for a test drive.

3.8 is a stock pulley size. so the stock belt will work, i think a stock belt would work on a 3.6 pulley too from what ive read here.

Yep, I was going to pick up a stock belt. I just couldn't get the belt that was used with the 3.4'' on all the pulleys.

just ask for the sc belt at the parts store. then it will fit. its still a snug fit. may even have to let it sit 1/2 way on the sc pulley then crank the engine to get it on. had to do that one time so far, it was a fight that refused to end, so i ended it lol
