    Look at his mods.

    2.5" pulley.

    supercharged v6 a2a blower whine - YouTube

Seems about on par with what we made with an A/W

Stage 2 L67 cam is about the same as an XP cam IIRC.

However it seems here he has the A/A plate going out to a larger A/W exchanger.

    Pauls V6 L67 VT @ BYE performance - YouTube

Here its rockers instead of cam and full A/A.

Again, pretty on par what we'd make.

So why do these guys seem to favour the A/A versus the A/W?

Aside from cost of course. Though both can be pretty close over there.

As far as I can tell, we'd have to relocate coils and remove EGR, Also have to build a custom intake of sorts to accommodate the tubing leaving via fenderwell.

This seriously isn't crazy enough to merit a single post?

i saw it, but forgot about it because i was on tapatalk when i got to it.

i like the idea of someone trying it out, that's for sure. seems like the hardest part is routing the piping effectively since we'd have to make some funny bends as well as what you mentioned above about having to move a couple things. i see it as a possiblity.

how much do the plates cost to import from over yonder?

    From MACE:

    Core: 1100 AUD
    Freight: 175 AUD
    "less tax": - 100 AUD

    Total: 1175 AUD

Then duty once it arrives for another 10%. Then you've got your pluming and FMHE to add into the equation. Thats an easy 400.

    $1600 isn't exactly cheap.

One could go A/W for less if you opted for neil's core at $500, VW rad for FMHE $100, Bosch pump $100, lines and fittings $100.

    Nice $800, half the price.

Comparing the cost of the intercooler kits over there, A/W is less expensive:

MACE Engineering complete A2A intercooler kit - Mace Engineering Group

INTERMEDIATE INTERCOOLER KIT HOLDEN SUPERCHARGED 6 L67 - Mace Engineering Group

IIRC the intermediate kit 2" core, phenolic, for the most part does not require firewall trimming.

One company that appears to be a mystery is BYE performance.

If it's over $100 anymore, it's way too much!!!

I like the idea of the a/a plate to a a/w exchanger but the cost effectiveness is rediculous. The only one with that kind of money for a fwd gp is JonBOb.

A intake tube from the AC vent to motor should net about the same results IIRC.
