Yup. It turns on every time that the car is started. stays for about the 15 to 20 min. then goes off. I was told that the ignition switch is bad, but it has never failed or shown any signs of it. I dont have a manual for the car is there any thing in there about setting things up??

the stupid passlock sensor is probably dieing, bypass it as it is useless to any real thief (they know the bypass tricks and it only takes a few seconds)

Put the key in, turn the ignition to RUN and wait 30 minutes. That will do a passive re-learn of the transponder in the key head. Try that...

There are several GM anti-theft modules... VATS/Passkey1/Passkey2/Passkey3/Passlock/Passlock2. Need to know EXACTLY what you have. I just did a permanent bypass on a VATS/PK1 system this weekend on a 96 Buick...

If I get this bypassed will I be able to install a remote start without having to use the security stuff. More or less like an old lumina or somthing obd1 with no security??? That and I still need to know how to disable it!!!

Try this to re-learn key and system--Turn ign to run position (don't start) wait till security light goes off--turn ign off and back on again (security light should be flashing) wait till light goes off again--turn off and back on (light will be flashing) when light goes off this time start the car (don't turn off before starting) This should take care of light-each procedure will take 15-30 minutes-be patient
