SO I am new to GP's and this site but one thing is I am a machinist and have tons of machine shop contacts. I was looking at this so called 1" GMR Chain and realized how in demand this thing is. So, I call my Grandpa who work for GM and asked him whats up with these things. To make it short and sweet I am trying to get the information from him Spec's, supplier, ect. What I want to know is if I can "produce these for sale" would anyone jump on these? Let me know this may be a year in the making but.. with enough people interested maybe a group buy could be in order.

Now for the gears all I need is the specs on them I can get these things made and heat treated sonic tested whatever I need. also I have the contentions at my shop to even get these things made from powdered metal!! Let me know guys as I am really looking into this.

Ok thanks guys so far I have found some information. The chains them selves we produced by non other than Borg Warner so maybe I can contact them Monday. This was the 1"x7/16" pitch. Really would be easier if I had the chain sprocket set for the 3.29 and the set for 2.92. I know I can fab the sprockets to be amazingly strong, also if I had the chains for about a week I can find the right material to start stamping out the links for testing. My buddy owns a company that tests tinsel strengths so I am good their. chain pins 4340 maybe harden? If anyone has these sets see if you can get me some specs with calipers and micrometers.

    I am interested.

Put a poll on this thread and you can have a counter for how many people have interest/how many people would buy one immediately.

Well I am not promising anything but having people in the industry and know many GM guys, machine shop owners and owning a GTP myself I am looking into this. I can't promise the world but at least in 5 hours time found out Borg Werner was the original producer and contacted them. If I talk to them and say ok I need 1000 chains and have the gears made and can keep the price under 1000 then I am sure there's a market. Heck I have 16k in my savings I will put up front on this. I have been reading the dead threads and it seems people just up and stop talking about it. I understand tinsel strength and material tolerences and heck maybe with stronger steel and re disigned staping and pins I can get the same strength at .75 inches who knows. But if I can get the specs and get the support I know I can make it happen if the cost is reasonable. I can't promise the world I can say I have the means to make the parts with the specs. We do everything from heat treat to metal fusion so it's just a matter of time before it hopefully comes together.

Thanks guys I will keep everyone posted I am calling Borg Warner on Monday and a few shops I know to see if I can't get the gears moving on this. Might take a few to hear back knowing how slow companies are sometimes but I will keep everyone updated.
