Ok so yeah I'm one of those newbies and I'm hoping someone can help. I have a 98 GTP and the car will not start at allmy lights and radio work, but when I put my car in the start position nothing happens. I'm thinking possible neutral safety switch. Does anyone have any ideas or tips about swapping this out orif it may be something else going on? Also my heads-up display only works once in a while when it's really cold out. Any clue? Any and all suggestion will help! Thanks

Looks like someone split off a thread for you.

On the HUD, please check that other thread. Yes you probably need the fix.

On starting... does your security light blink or stay on solid when you put the key in the ignition? And when you turn it? Is the battery fully charged? Do you hear a click sound in the engine bay?

I'd suggest testing the starter first and then potentially an ignition switch. Were there any other symptoms or info leading up to this that you can give us?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

it may be the solenoid on the starter, but you can generally hear those trying to work. It sounds like a neutral safety switch to me.

Check for power at both wires at the start, if you have that you need a starter.

There isnt a security light on the dash. I replaced the key lock cylinder, neutral safety switch, tested the "command" wire going to starter (no voltage) in any position including run position. Maybe ignition switch?

The only position you are going to have any power on that "command" or "trigger" wire is in the "START" position, so your going to need a friend to help you test that wire. Use a VOLT METER (DVOM) to test this, a test light wont tell you much, other than if there is power there. It wont tell you HOW MUCH power is there. You need at least 10.5Volts on that wire with the key in the START position.

Thank you for all of you help! I am going to try the hud thing this weekend, but it ended up being my ignition switch that failed. I still replaced the neutral sefety switch because it wasn't looking so good. I have an aftermarket security system for some reason so I'll have to try to figure out a way to hook that back up again. Thanks for all of the feedback you are all the best!
