Well, ever since I bought my 2000 GT money pit, I have been throwing parts at it left and right. Hell, I'm going to have a brand new, used car soon.
Anyways, one of the issues was the AC. It was working fine, until my Compressor started making some awful, meat grinder noises. (and the hose was leaking where the rubber meets the metal) Soooooo, I bought a used compressor. (still thinking about buying a new one) I have it hooked up but do not have the system filled up. No noises at all, but I don't want to charge the system and have it quit or not do what it is supposed to do. Then have to waste the money to get it refilled again when I do buy a new one.
I put on new lines and a new accumulator as well. Figured the orifice tube was too difficult for me to want to mess with, so I opted to not buy one and change it. I called a few shops to get quoted on pressure testing, evac the system, and recharge the system. Each and everyone asked if I changed the orifice tube. So at that time I decided to buy and replace the friggen tube. I was a pain in the @ss for sure. I followed the writeup on CGP. ClubGP Message Forum troubleshooting

I followed it word for word and it was all good. It took me a little while to get the Brake booster moved to the side where I could get my hands down there. I really needed hands of a 3 year old! The line took a little bit to take apart. Getting the tube out, well, it was a chore. I am planning on several scabs to develop on my hands and knuckles. Once it was out, it was all downhill. Put it in and button everything back up. Big relief once I was finished, and I HOPE that I never have to change one again!
No pics of the tube that I pulled out, but it was BLACK!!!! Talk about nasty looking.

Cross my fingers that when they pressure test it, there are no leaks! I replace all the O-Rings that I could when the system was taken apart. Really debating on replacing that compressor with a brand new on..

Thanks for updating your project. Im going to try to put off changing my orifice tube as long as I can, but I know it needs changed....Compressor kicks on, no cold air, system only takes 7oz freon, out of 2.25lbs needed.

Thanks for that link too BTW.
