This is the code I'm pulling (p0410).. was wondering if you guys thought if I should just replace the pump.. or if it's worth trying to fix somehow? from what i've been reading it seems like the thing freezes up in the winter sometimes.. but it's definitely warm enough that it shouldn't be frozen still.. maybe corrosion? should I just replace the pump or what? no part stores around here carry the part so I'd have to order it online.

I believe it's located down below the airbox, assuming you have one at all. AFAIK, it was part of the California Emissions package (it was on the Regals, I assume the GPs are the same), so most of our cars don't even have one at all. Don't think you would throw the code if your car didn't come with one, though.

here is the description of that code, there is 43 steps on the flow chart to repair this and could be a pain,it says to first check the air pipes and hoses, then vaccum hoses, there is a couple parts it talks about relacing before the pump. The control module activates the secondary air injection (AIR) system by grounding both the pump relay and the vacuum control solenoid control circuits simultaneously. This action energizes the AIR pump and the vacuum control solenoid. Vacuum is then applied, opening the valves. The pump then forces fresh air into the exhaust stream in order to accelerate catalyst operation. The control module will run up to 3 diagnostic tests using the pre-catalyst heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) voltage and Short Term FT to diagnose the system. The system can be diagnosed during normal secondary air injection operation or the control module can activate the system specifically for diagnostic purposes. If an air flow condition is detected, this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will set. When inactive, the system prevents air flow in either direction. hope this helps

haha thanks that was very informative.. it was the pump.. when i pulled it off. water poured out.. and i tried to move the fan.. it was stuck.. so it corroded from being inactive.. weird thing though.. when i pulled the gasket off it pulled a peice of plastic from the housing off with it.. broke in 3 peices.. i tried to seal it... but we'll see if that holds up.. and that bracket was such a pita to get to.. so i made my own hanger and just took the bracket out (since i'll probably have to replace the pump again anyway)

it was underneith the air filter housing.. but you couldnt see it just by taking the housing off.. and there was no way to get to it unless you go under the car.. man i hated that job.. im wiped out now lol it's just nice to see the ses light off and hear that motor turn on when i turn on the car!

okay i'm going to update this a little bit because I'm STILL messing around with this thing... i replaced the pump (yes it was corroded and now it doesn't blow the fuse).. i can hear the pump turn on.. sounds like its fixed.. but in the middle of driving the SES light comes back on.. same code (p0410) so today i took the hoses off.. cleaned them out.. made sure the connections were good.. i also took what i believe to be the electric air valve off (kind of looks like an egr).. i cleaned it out.. put it all back together.. what do ya know, the code comes back up!!!.. also i took the pump apart.. there was a good amount of water inside the pump that I dumped out.. i dont know if I should replace the valve or what I should do.. maybe replace the vacuum control solenoid?

any help or suggestions would be awesome.. this is bothering me so bad because it's the ONLY thing wrong with my car and probably the only thing I have no idea about.

Did you change the fuse for the pump? Mine was throwing fuses left and right and causing my SES light to come on. Its in the underhood fuse box.

my car has this same problem, i am also going through all this crap. i dont want to take it to anywhere to get it fixed when i could just fix it at home where i have my own garage and lift. but i think i might just take it to the diagnostic center to pinpoint the exact problem, because im tired of replacing things and it not getting fixed...

The fix is simple, use a tuner to disable the codes and removed the damned thing.

thats not going to help when inspection time comes because the code will not be there and it will say not ready and then it fails for emissions anyways. happened to a friend of mine that way with his car with another issue.
