Hello all, I am having transmission issues and am getting code P0741.
Some of my symptoms include -

Hesitation accelerating (as if there's a blockage in the muffler) then a kick and a sudden burst of acceleration

At high speeds the rpm drops to 1-1.5k and when accelerating at high speeds the rpm has to "catch up" with where it should be around 3000 rpm @ 80mph and you feel a slight jolt.

Over all acceleration issues then the engine catching up,rpms going to 4-5k and the car just slowly accelerates etc.

I know this code involves the torque convertor, can it potentially be an easy fix, it mentions a circuit. Or is this a big job that'll require tranmssion removal? I need to get this out of the way to pass smog, if it is a big fix issue, can the code be silenced or removed? Thanks everyone.

I did a search before posting, I noticed you mentioned having a link to your repair tutorial but could not locate. Also not exactly sure what to do or which component to replace.

    My anecdotal experience:

Brother in law had similar symptoms and trouble code, along with a couple other codes related to stuck solenoids. Long story short; Torque convertor clutch shredded sending clutch material through the entire trans. The solenoids were stuck due to grit in the bores. Only fix was a full rebuild.

Drop the pan to see what the fluid and magnet look like.

I recently did a flush and there was no shredded metal or abnormal debris.

The mechanical flush probably did the transmission in. In the 4T65E world, it's heavily recommended never to flush.

Torque converter lockup issues may relate to the TCC solenoid, which requires the side cover off. You'd have the trans almost out by then doing it properly.

Can do solenoids, hope the harness clips don't break and pray the issues are gone 1st run, or start saving up for a rebuild. Either are not attractive options, imho.

The issue was there before the flush, trans oil smelled burnt so I thought it would help.

Seems like all the links on the older sight have disappeared? Lots of great info and tutorials there. I remember there was that epic Billboost trans and engine swap that really helped me years ago. I am still having struggles with the code and am considering just swapping out the entire trans for a used one. Does anyone have a link for a swap tutorial on this newer site? Would this route be easier than trying to fix the torque converter?
