ABS light has been on (and traction control off) since I've had my '01 GTP. Can't get any reader to connect to the ABS controller. (I know standard OBD ones don't.) Can't get any wheel speed sensor readings at all in Android Torque (even adding the GM PIDS.) Fuses good.

I sent the module to cheapabs.com. Came back saying it had been verified defective and they were able to repair it.

Put it back in last weekend, but no change. ABS light still on, traction off. Checked fuses again, too.

Any ideas where to look next?

Yep, check both front wiring harnesses that go from the hub up to the main loom. Just went through this on my brothers 01 GT. Had to install a Dorman replacement harness on the drivers side and all is well. Got crushed between the lower ball joint and a-arm. Then found about 4 splices inside as I tried to save it.

Believe I saw 4.8V on the harness plug with the key on car off on the pass. side one. The drivers side showed way less. New harness fixed the issue.

Some other things to check. If you have 4 volts at the plug, clean the connectors really good. Use dielectric grease and connect again and see if the light goes out. If not drive it for a few more days. IIRC when I had mine repaired there was a note inside the box with the repaired module stating not all the ABS lights will turn off right away. Maybe that is the case here?

If all that checks out and the light is still on it could be a bad wheel hub. You can check the ohms on that. Hook up the meter and rotate the hub. You should see the ohms changing, but nothing erratic. Compare both front hubs to see if there are any discrepancies.

I second the idea with the wiring harnesses. That’s a pretty common issue on these.

When I did a job that had the car up and down on a lift a couple times (control arm moving to full extension and back a few times), the abs light was on when I was finished, even though I never touched anything abs related.

Found that all the control arm flexing broke one of the weather-worn abs wires on the front left that’s fastened to the arm and that sensor was losing signal.

See if you can go to advance or AZ and have them pull codes for you. Their scanners can almost always pull Abs codes.

If your abs light is on there should be an ABS code stored that would at least say Front Left Wheel Speed sensor circuit or something like that. Would at least save a lot of time trying to chase broken wires, or potentially even rule it out all together.

On my 04 GP first it was passenger right front wiring about 6 inches from the pigtail. Wire looked fine on the outside but once I replaced it and stripped the old wire it was all corroded inside. Then a year later it was the driver side. Same thing. Wiring on the outside looked fine. Corroded inside. Then another 6 months the passenger side ebay replacement failed. The connector was all corroded and the wire fell out of the pigtail. Poor quality. Bought the Dorman brand and been fine since. I solder, heat shrink, and use electrical grease on all connections with the corrosive de-icing spray they use here.
04 GP GT- top swap, VS cam, 2.8 pulley, E85, headers, 60 injectors, TEP 3:29 trans, Racelogic Traction Control, ZZP dyno tuned.
