Trying to get this zzp catted converter into my gp..the two bolts that go into the engine block came off with one second on the impact gun with the right extensions, they came out in a minute. The ones that go into the resonator are really stuck. The 13MM socket hardly fit on it right away, had to hit with hammer, then the bolts just wont budge.

The impact 13mm doesn't fit they have rusted pretty good. Tried pb blaster, been soaking the bolts for a couple days. Tried torching one of them to get it hot, and no budge. The one is starting to get stripped, the sockets slipping off, not too bad but its started.

The red wrench is your friend, I'd melt the face off and use a hammer and punch or air hammer to smash the rest through.

The bolt goes into resonator? I can cut the head off with my grinder, but isn't it threaded into what holds the resonator there?

i had to grind off a dp bolt off the rear manifold too, now that one was fun lol

if your bolts are that bad, don't be surprised if the resonator flange is deteriorated and won't seal to the new DP. i had to get a new flange welded on. figured why i'm at it , might as well scrap the soon to be leaking rusty resonator with a new glasspack.

just as quiet as the resonator. i put the 31" x 2.5" thrush on. can't say for sure , but i'd say it flows better than the res since it's 2.5 . at least in my mind it does...lol

i got a 32 inch thrush gp. had the inlet tube cut off and a new flange welded to it. you cant find new flanges at the parts store. only place local is gonna be a muffler shop. so hand them the gp and buy the flange and have them weld it if you dont weld. they also have the gasket. if they want less then 8 bucks for it, take it. lol

i paid $40 to have everything welded up and installed. took him about 40-45 minutes so i was happy. he does nice work although i didn't get his method. i woulda lined everything up and tacked it and put it in the vice to finish the weld . he just welded everything while it was on the car.

To each his own I guess.

I paid like $80 a few years back to have a straight pipe welded in place of the original busted resonator. The welds looked like complete crap too lol.
