That was a dang good day if you ask me. Couple MPH more coulda poled ya. Glad its just a mirror. Check them tie rods.

Sunday my friend got sideswiped in her 01 Yukon XL, someone claiming medical issue does not remember crossing the median or wrecking. Hers got thumped on the rocker, qtr, wheel, and kinked the frame in three places with one being wadded up crossmember. I think a dude at my work will snag it for the 5.3 if cheap enough but hell that engine came out of another wrecked Yukon. People drive sadistic here.

Nothing to report on the home front, GTP is overdue for everything and I mean everything. Bald front tires and oil change at top of wish list.

Let me start by saying, I hope your friend is okay. Having said that... Is it wrong that the first thing I thought of was "Ohhh, someone gonna snag that LM7?" LOL. One track mind.

Hell no, just means you bleed red. Dude at my work will snag it if its cheap enough. He already put one in his Jeep. Ins man ain't been to it yet. She has bruises, she says. Question... I heard they have an issue with oil pressure loss due to deteriorating seal at the oil pump pickup O-ring, and that a new GM O-ring there is the fix. Worthwhile while out. U heard this? One case went from 5 to 45 PSI, I heard. Her original started knocking down low at 113K, this one came from another wreck. Both ticked after cold starts but I hear they have way high fuel pressure than and its the injectors you hear. Think if he is gonna use it he should do the O-ring?

I've seen people say a bad pickup tube o-ring caused low oil pressure. Haven't experienced it personally. I think if he's got the engine out of the vehicle, it's worth replacing every gasket*. If you buy the lower conversion gasket set, that o-ring is in the kit. My 6.0 clatters a little on a cold start, but I'm told the early LQ4's were notorious for piston slap.

Saturday morning, woke up to a flat left front tire. It has a slow leak, so maybe it finally gave up. It was pissing rain, so I went out, put air in it, and rolled the car back a foot; figured maybe I parked on the sweet spot. Went out for an hour or so, and when I got home, the tire had lost 4psi. Ok, I'll keep an eye on it. Sunday I wake up with plans of pulling the tire/wheel and checking for leaks. Nope. All air is in-tact. . Oh well. Now that the sun is out and the rain has parted, I decided to look at my LED fog lights; they don't always turn on, sometimes they come on dim, sometimes they work just fine. Of course when I turn them on, they are working fine. Checked for obvious things like connections, but they worked fine. Turned them on/off 175 times, and they worked like they should. Screw it. Shut the hood! I'm done. I then looked at some led's that I had recently installed. They appeared to be backfeeding and causing some issues. I installed a diode, and nothing changed. Great. Put the wiring back to the way it was. I'm done. What a waste of time. I went inside and cleaned the house. That never lets me down. LOL
Monday it appeared only the left fog was coming on. Confirmed. Last night I was bored so I removed the right lamp assembly, bring it inside, put power to it, it lights up. Well that is good. Do the same with the left side, all good. I still have the aftermarket harness in place from when I had HID fogs, so I figured it might be the problem. I re-install the left lamp, plug it in to the stock connector, all good. Took me a while to do the same on the right side because I had the stock connector buried and was hard to find. Plug it in, all good. I button everything up, test all the lights, and the left fog doesn't come on. FAWK. I think the connector is dirty, cuz when I first plugged it in, I had to wiggle it a bit to make light. So, tonight I will clean that connector good, and hopefully be able to move on to other repairs, like the trunk LED strip that stopped working. LOL

Got the snow tires on. Fixed the fog light issue; the harness was the original problem, but by going back to the stock connectors, one was unprotected for years and corroded. Tried to clean it. It tested ok, but failed the reality check. New connector installed, lights working like they should be. Thank god. LOL

Oh, and I dropped/lost two headlight mounting bolts in the process, due to cold fat fingers. Good thing I have a bunch of bolts that fit.

Moving to Vegas & leaving the GXP behind. Gonna let my lil brother drive it until he gets a new motor for his Blazer. Wrote him a nice lengthy & ridiculous list of 'what is and how not to break' my car. Though im really only worried about him driving the thing on ice and getting dead. The GXP has no traction control. F'n scary.

BTW, resetting my password to login and post this was a real friggin' heros journey.

Made it! I don't care if "they are just kilometers". It is still a big deal.

Drove it to work since it's the first time it's been out in 2 weeks. Figured I'd better drive it before the battery craps itself in this stupid cold. Fired up the heated GXP seat to keep me warmed up before the rest of the car did. So glad I swapped these seats in now. Never been a fan of a lot of "creature comforts" but I will admit a heated seat is a nice thing to have.

I did elbows on the GTP yesterday... again. Just replaced them this summer. Don't think I'll use ones from Napa again. Some third grader must have designed the alternator bracket heater hose setup, its insane and I can't see how it was ever expected to not leak.

I like the seat heat too, mostly because its near impossible for heat and air to function correctly in these cars. How could a system so complex evolve around the need to simply adjust heat amount, mode, and fan speed? What a joke!

That's why I love the fact I don't have dual zone HVAC. 3 knobs and thats it. Passenger getting too hot/cold? Too bad. Close the vent. If I ever have to pay to get another GP it will have the same setup. Not messing with blend door actuators breaking all the time.

Got the tires swapped over to a set of steelies I picked up from the junkyard last weekend... I've pulled everything else that I'm keeping from the car and parked it out in the overflow parking.

Now it's just a matter of waiting on the bank to figure out how much they want to pay me for the car and all the new parts, and once that payment comes in I can start working on trying to find a replacement.

I can confirm that the first car you send to the junkyard, that still runs and drives, is kinda hard to let go of... Especially when it's your first car.
