Way back when, aparently there was a write up in Hot Rod Magazine previewing the 40th Anniversary GTP from Pontiac, and they called it the GP40. GM also did some further mods on the car. A link to the story is below. Does anyone know what happened to the car seen in the pics? Are there any other photos or info about it? I'd like to see a better pic of those wheels. Just wondering if someone out there owns this car now.......

Incorrect. Did you click the link? Yes 40th anniversaries were production but there are things on that one that are not on the ones you see here. I.E adjustable springs, adjustable front and rear dampers, not to mention aluminum forged wheels.

Those Wheels look freaking sick btw.

It had some extra goodies on it to showcase their GM accessories for the SEMA show that year. Must have also had several candy coats on it too, because god DAMN the paint job on that thing was sick. Not much else is known about this car besides what is mentioned in the Hot Rod Magazine article. I know it was on display at the '02 Southern Pontiac Nationals, but where it ended up beyond that, I couldn't say.

my guess is it was never built and sold to the public, as no one has ever said hey look at this 40th i got with all this cool sh it. sema is all show, not your everyday cars. i bet this car is a one and done deal. could have met the crusher already.

Yeah, I kind of thought it was a special build; but just thought maybe someone would know what became of it. Wondered if it went to a GM exec, or one of the then-Pontiac NASCAR teams got it as a promotion or something. I have a 40th; and I flipped when I saw the paint in those pics!! As mentioned already, the wheels are pretty wild from what I can see of them.

Almost everything was offered by GM at one point.

The Springs and Struts were the Koni GMPP, The exhaust was the Magnaflow GMPP. The Brake Pads were the "Heavy Duty" Pade available from AC Delco.

Scotty, it was done ON a production 40th from what I understand. It's not like the car was meant to be sold as is. They just used it as an example to showcase all the accessories you can buy for ANY GP. Drilled/slotted rotors, different wheels, GMPP suspension kit, etc. Nothing freakishly out of the ordinary, or one off about it as far as I know. As redline mentioned, it's probably in the "GM Museum" now.

BTW, if you look at the thread I linked to, I believe it was determined that those wheels are Centerline Storms.

Ok so the ones saying that the 40th is just the same your very very wrong.....
If your read about John deloren and GM and the c3 Corvette (aka the Pontiac banshee) stolen from delorean and Pontiac 4 years after the prototype was made....John delorean wanted to ,ake Pontiac GM muscle car line with sleepers.....
We build performance then luxury around it. John delorean...

John delorean got tired of gm telling him no on his concepts because of fear it would take away from the Corvette sales (gm also stole the firehawk g8 powerplant for the supercharged zo6 facts)
So delorean made a car he called the GT -37 for the low end consumer he presented the car and gm said that's fine but it can't have that motor........... delorean said this is what we are going to do we are gonna make a few different models of this gt-37 and within that he sent out his sleep aka the fastest and most powerful Pontiac in production in the 70s.

SIDE NOTE I LIVE IN KCK 10 MILES AWAY FROM WHERE THOS CAR WAS PRODUCED.
SECOND SIDE NOTE MY DAD WORKED FOR GM FOR 36..........................

My dad Michael calvert worked at Fairfax and said that the 40Th anniversary got what Pontiac called a delorean package.
But how they did that odd ball package was the same way delorean did they made 2248 and within that 2248
    They sent out Se,Gt.GTP
Why in God's name would they do that well to sneak the cars that have the mods hot rods stats
Mine has the bigger exhaust has a different programmed ecm no rev limiter is set on mine
Mine has more power than other gtp
I am apart of Kansas city Pontiac a car club and I race guys with stage two kits and I 60 foot all of them on my stock motor

So to those who say that car is bull****
Lol well you don't know your history of Pontiac and John delorean
Fyi Pontiac made a grand prix that was 300 hp v6 called the mule. Gm said no
Pontiac then made a AWD grand prix with a ls1 in it GM said no. PROTOTYPES
in 1995 and 1998 gm could of saved Pontiac period and just got rid of Corvette
    Or the camero
But when u make a v6 in 1993 that has twice the hp as a Corvette well u can't have grocery getter stock v6 treating ur super car like it's a four cylinder

Facts period read ur history these cars are in existence and this why general motor let Pontiac die because they was always sneaking deloren packages out the door anything with a production num within that mix believe there at least 100 to 150 of those cars that are modded.....
Fact Pontiac has more numbered cars then any other maker in wonder why

My dad can beat up your dad.

You like those cars? That's neat. I like them too. You can come to my area of Minnesota and see a good number of them rusted to ****, all trim levels.

This thread belongs in the boneyard right with em.
