is it better to run regular 89 octane or 91? will using 91 octane yield more power and efficiency?

It's not really worth putting a higher octane in a engine the cant utilize the higher octane. You may notice a small gain or you may not. It will however decrease your gas mileage.

I would say don't waste your money, it's not really worth it.

When 87 is 10% ethanol and 91 is 0%, are you sure?

OP, try shell V power and see how the economy is on that stuff.

Thanks, ill try the shell v power, in my dads ford ranger when he puts 91 octane in it, it usually gets way better mileage.

Check on the pump, it should tell you how much ethanol is in it.

Every gas station ive been too in jersey it's all 10% ethanol, no matter the octane rating.

Shell v power is 93, IIRC

Depends on where you are and what your state laws are.

Here its your average across all of your products must be 5%.

    Thus 87 can be 10%, 89 is 5% and 91 is 0%.

    Petro is more tricky.

If the station carries 94, then all products are 10%. If they don't then 91 is 0%.

I'd just stick to 87, unless the uncommon chance that you find pure gasoline for a specific octane rating at the pump.
