Condenser has a hole in it & apparently the whole line has to be replaced because of a special valve? Anyway $1,300 grrr... what to do? Thought about buying another GTP for double that with the AC working, then sell the 2003 LE. I was hoping $600 or so to fix. Can anyone confirm this quote as reasonable?

    Ac work gets expensive, quick.

To replace the compressor I was quoted between $400-650 between shops.
So, you might try calling around to different shops and see what they quote.

Though if my fat ass can take the Florida heat in a black car with black leather, you should be able to manage.

I work in an office environment, so coming into work soaked from sweat ain't an option.
The shop said this repair is normally $600 but replacing the line screws everything.

i would source and replace the parts yourself, then go back to have it charged up.

a/c shops do cost a lot. i paid over 500 for a new compressor 5 to 7 years ago.

why buy another car just to have a/c that also may quit on you. and then your in the same boat.

Well, if you are mechanically not retarded (cause honestly you dont have to be inclined, just not an invalid) then have the shop evacuate the system. (though i'd imagine that hole already did so)

Source the parts yourself, and replace them. Check rockauto, they tend to be really inexpensive.

Once the repairs are made, take it to the shop, and have them pressure test the system. If all is good, then have them flush and recharge, and you'll be set.

On a side note, I likewise worked in an office for 2years+ with no AC. Just had to wear an undershirt, and put my button-up on when I got there. XD
